Opening. Needs a better pointer towards "school" in both suggestions.

My concern is that the first might lose detail at wiki size.

Well, it looks like this. I don't think the details are as important as the overall impression. There are crowds, colourful stands, and a school.

I'll toss in my support if that helps. While it's true that the "school" part of the trope isn't that obvious, no one is going to mistake it as anything else on an article titled "School Festival".

Well 90% of these are just portrayed indoors, with outdoors being the sports club and those getting attention is rare. So how about an interior shot?

None of them seem good. Last one would be the closest, but it's not showing nearly enough 'school'.

That said, I'm not the biggest fan of any of the suggestions overall

I'm torn on those...not sure which one I prefer, and I dunno if I like any of them more than the first suggestion.

10 works best, I think.
