[up][up]That's exactly what I am thinking. This is probably just another attempt to stir shit up, like they did with the Zelda Netflix series rumors that were of course denied by Nintendo.

why would nintendo care about an old-ass movie that practically nobody remembers anymore?

Because fans think that companies hold a grudge as much as them. I would call it "individuality fallacy" or something, but I'm no philosopher.

Well, whatever. I don't really believe anything really interesting will ever come out of this. Just more toys and dispensable cartoons. And amiibos. And DLC. Boring

@27 Well, not really. The company that actually produced the film was Lightmotive (now known as Allied Filmmakers). Disney, via Buena Vista, were the distributors, but their hand in actual production was comparatively minimal. It's a Disney film in that they the ones who stood to profit/draw a debt in regards to its release, but that's about it. The video game equivalent is for a second-party game from an independent studio - Bravely Default, for example, was distributed by Nintendo in the US, but it's still a Square Enix game, not a Nintendo game.

Consequently, beyond the point other have made about how an organization wouldn't hold a grudge against another organization over a bad movie from 20+ years ago (which I also agree with), the idea that Nintendo would have an issue with Disney over the Super Mario Bros. movie is rather unlikely because it really wasn't Disney's fault.

Mind you, I still suspect that little would come of these talks beyond something related to Disney Infinity, but that has nothing to do with that movie.

Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.

It should be noted that the Mario Bros movie was made by Hollywood pictures. since nobody even know what the heck that company is, let's just say it's not a Disney Company, and that movie should've never happened.

It wouldn't hurt to try a second time right? Besides, the Mario Bros movie was made when they didn't have material to work with in terms of art style, story, and characters. Now we have 100 games in Mario's library, so many characters, so many locations, and so many ideas, that a whole series can be made out of this. I wouldn't even minded them going over the basic kidnapped princess storyline. As for Disney making it, I can see many Nintendo series becoming animated movies, like Star Fox, Kirby, and Pokemon. I only see Legend of Zelda and Fire Emblem being live action movies.

Nintendo of America seems hesitant to bring their characters outside of the games in general, and I do think the Super Mario movie played a part.

Danny Wells said that they had to be dragged kicking in screaming into making The Super Mario Bros Super Show. And then there was the Nintendo Comics System and the Nintendo Power comics, both of which ended before the Super Mario Bros. movie (which, for the record, I liked). After the movie, nothing aside from the Donkey Kong Country TV series. Every other adaptation (F-Zero, Kirby, Pokemon, Zelda manga) have all been from Japan.
