Yeah, in Bloodborne you basically gamble your life on a blood treatment that gives you Hepatitis Lovecraft. It's open to interpretation whether the old doctor who injected you (who is not Gehrman) had anything in particular in mind for you, but as you progress Gehrman starts possibly grooming you as the next basis for the Hunter's Dream. Whether you agree or not is entirely up to you, but almost everything in Yharnam happens in reality, or as close as Yharnam gets.

It's been fun.

I definitely don't buy it. The only piece of evidence is that he's called a god of war, but it's entirely possibly he's the same as Evlana and just a human called a god. And he's not even the only war god - Nahr Alma is one too.

Similarly, Faraam in DS3 is referred to as a god of war, not the.

The continuity of Dark Souls was designed to be interpreted as you see fit, hence the utter ambiguity and lack of clear cut answers in the trilogy. And this is coming from Mr. head honcho himself, Hideki Miyazaki.

I assume this is common knowledge by this point, but I tried it for the first time;

The Re-spec for free glitch. It still exists.

Used it once so far to give some other weapons a try, but I've run out of materials and am pretty early in NG+.

Alright finally got this game when it went on sale for Halloween. Decided to give a standard Quality Knight build a shot. So far I'm liking it.

I've taken out Vordt and am currently in the Undead Settlement. I got delayed due to dying repeatedly to that damn Red-Eye Knight. But I wanted that Refined Gem. Amusingly enough, that Knight was way way harder than Vordt. Vordt was a pushover, especially with the Sword Master Phantom.

If you have the confidence, I hihgly recommend attempting all bosses on NG solo. NG+ tries to beef them up, but more likely NG+ is easier up to the middle point of the game thanks to your upgraded gear and abilities by comparison.

Of course, if something is not worth the trouble after a few tries, go ahead and summon. There are some bosses even elitist fuckwits will summon for 'cause they're just ridiculous.

That meaning... what?

Playing the entire trilogy (+ BB) in succession?

If I had room to replug my ol' 360 I might actually be going back to even Dark Souls 2, löl. (Or just get Scholar later this year...)

I've been feeling like replaying Dark Souls III. I never did finish The Ringed City, but it's been so long now that jumping right back in there doesn't feel like a good idea.

If I remember right, the only boss I summoned for was whathisface with the dragon. I feel like I could have beaten him eventually, but it was going to take many tries, and I just wanted to get on and finish the game.

Have you played DS 2's DLC before? The Crown series is a significant bump up in difficulty, for some reason, mostly due to some mean design decisions and DS2's poorer control scheme.

It's been fun.

Playing through DS II and its DLC with mouse and keyboard controls was a struggle. I'd have gotten a controller but for various reasons I was unable to procure one. By the time I finally got one I had moved on to other games.

Currently playing DS III with a controller and it's way more fun.

Not that it's easy. It's been a long while since I played a Souls game and I had almost forgotten how challenging it can be. Not helped by the fact that I'm trying a different play style then in previous games — I used to go the BFS route and used powerful but slow weapons. Now I'm running with a Quality Build wielding a Refined Longsword.

And is it me or are the Lothric Knights way too hard for enemies found in the first area of the game?

The Lothric Knights are tough bastards, yeah. I took it as a sign of the devs saying 'look, you're a veteran at this point, you know the drill'.

Gundyr is the same way. I was taken aback when the first boss of the game turned out to be like that.

It's been fun.

[up]Despite me getting my controls mixed up for a bit during the fight, I somehow beat Gundyr on the first try. The Knight is really good for a beginner class.

The enemies that gave me real trouble so far were that one Mimic (forgetting to clear the rubble in the room which blocked my movement didn't help) with the Deep Battle-axe and the Lothric Knights. Especially that Red-eyed one that drops the Refined Gem — particularly since you gotta find a way past several normal Lothric Knights to reach him. Oddly enough that big fat Halberd wielding knight in the same area wasn't nearly as bad.

I gotta say that so far the Refined Longsword has been living up to the hype. For an upgraded starter weapon it's pretty darn good.

I think I went with the Refined Longsword, or perhaps Refined Broadsword, for the whole game, honestly. People talk up the Straightsword of Astora and as far as I know it is quite good, but you need to be devoted (ha) to a Miracle build for it.

It's been fun.

I saw the Faith requirements on it and went "Nope". I'm sure it's a decent weapon, but I don't really want to use magic in this game.

Also, I'm surprised they still hadn't fixed that one roof-jump glitch in Firelink. Not that I'm complaining about having early access to a Coveted Silver Serpent Ring and the trading crow.

Yeah, I know that Pyromancy was OP in the first game but I don't know if making it require twice as many levels as the other two magic systems was a great idea, really. Fortunately you can use some support Pyros decently well with a magic build.

I ended up going with a Magic Knight build in late game, mostly so I could Fashion Souls while still being durable. And so I could survive the goddamn Ringed City.

It's been fun.

I'm actually wondering how far I'll be able to get relying almost entirely on the starter gear (albeit upgraded). Though I'll probably switch out shields for certain bosses.

I'll probably need to put a few points into Vitality so I can keep my load 70% or below. I hate fat-rolling.

Even if your main playstyle is "absolutely face-tank ALL the things" fatrolling is still a horrible idea.

I've always been a Sorcery, Rapier and fast roll advocate myself. Raw Rapier was my first time bae. But Crow's Quills? Gimme! Ricard's is cool too but holy stat investments, Batman!

Then an unexpectedly beautiful scythe was forged and I was conflicted.

The one downside with the Knight so far is that the starter gear is so heavy that without putting more points in Vigor I can't wield anything heavier than my Longsword (which is pretty much everything) without removing other equipment to avoid fat-rolling. Good thing the Refined Longsword is an effective weapon in its own right.

That's one of the reasons I haven't been using the Deep-Axe I got from the Mimic or the Claymore from the bridge with the dragon.
