Isn't that a bit strawmaning vegans?

No, because as said above, those two groups often overlap, and to recognize that it is not all of them I use words like "some" and "many" which means I should either run for congress since I seem to ascribe to political bullshit buzzwords, or I am purposefully using vague numeral descriptors in an attempt to refer only vaguely to a potential theory.

As said above:

This might possibly be viable once we get synthetic meat off the ground, but I can't exactly see vegans feeding their pets stuff that was artificially grown in a lab. I guess some might though.

If you want a vegan pet, get a rabbit.

[up][up][up]It's not that these people don't understand the biology, it's that they think you can circumvent it or, free them from it as I saw someone put it "nature took them so far now let's help them have a cruelty free diet" or something like that refer to the act of predation as cruel or something that predators do, or even should, care about.

Actually, yeah I guess a lot of that does come from not understanding biology.

Pretty sure rabbits still lactate. Maybe a sea urchin?

Maybe they can get into the BDSM thing, and find a vegan slave.

We seem to all be in agreement that this practice is dumb. As a consequence, this discussion is lacking an opposing party and is turning into an echo chamber. Can we call this one solved?

@Indirect Active Transport:

I don't think any vegan opposes drinking the milk of mothers, be they animal or human. The not drinking of milk comes from the necessary rearing of such animals and their inability to consent, so to speak.

That does make more sense. Sure, only vegan pet food works for rabbits then. I'd rather have a cow or goat though. Maybe a pig.

LSBK, in the OP you stated that you thought you could make decent arguments in favor of it, but you wanted to hear what others thought first. You've heard.

You're up: let's have your arguments in favor, or there's no real point to this thread.

[up]I meant that I could decently debate against it. Maybe that wasn't clear.

So we're at no real point for this thread. Lock time?

Edit: I should point out that I have hollered for a lock, just in case anyone else was going to.

[up][up]I think you've got some decent answers that will help you out. I'm up for this to get locked.
