Sign-ups here.

RP thread here.

Said I'd roll it up over the weekend and there it is. Here, we can worldbuild, ask more questions, and establish pre-existing relationships. The last part is the most important, I think, especially given that Goldwing Vale is a small village, and also to see how the Gods plan on playing off each other.

Worldbuilding:

Do the non-humans have their own gods or were they also destroyed? Can/were they be part of the Covenant?

Aye, they fall under the mortal demesnes. So some may have their own gods same as humans, but I've left that, along with their social standings, up in the air to allow people flexibility.

We could use some NPC gods. Ooh, how about some dead gods the others can feed on?

Will we have Gods Need Prayer Badly in effect (falling back into torpor if they have zero followers) or do they grow independently, solely depending on their interactions with other gods?.

I'm not sure on the idea of NPC gods, myself, except as an antagonizing force.

I'm leaning more towards the latter, but it's a mix of both. There can be super powerful godlike beings that don't need worship to function (like ancient dragons and demons) but worship is what pushes the line into immortality and permanence. After all, you guys are reborn again. For the purpose of the RP (or this arc, at least) you're doing more of the latter since we're situated around a small village.

Well as enemies, obviously.

How do we begin? You All Meet in an Inn?

The Gods will do that, yes (if not in a literal inn). For the mortals proper, I figure that we'll start in the aftermath of the storm. So people looking for lost friends, tending to the wounded, the works.

The storm? Could this be the same storm that knocked Irina into the mountain cave where she found Iskraleth's lantern?

Yup, that's the one. I figure this would loan a sense of urgency off the bat.

Alright, then when I finish writing Irina's profile I will have that in mind!

Is it possible for a human wizard, old and powerful enough, to become a deity himself?

Are we talking pre-crusade or post?

Well, pre-crusade I assume. It would probably be hard to get that powerful when you have the Fun Police breathing down your neck, no?

Can a mortal character worship more than one deity?

Up to the deities they're worshipping. If they don't mind sharing, then fine, but otherwise they may very well take offense at being second string, so to speak. Not to mention that, for example, a peasant may worship Zeus and Demeter and Athena etc but he's not likely to get any boon from any of these gods.

Im hoping to get it up on Friday but this was before i doublechecked my shifts in the following days and I'm slammed. My guess would be Saturday, sorry.

In the meantime, you guys can work on preexisting relationships.

I feel this might be a good time to introduce the origins of Iskraleth, so:

The earliest thing that Iskraleth can remember is endless, lightless darkness, heavy and empty, and then her own existence. She existed in a dimension that overlapped the coldest void of space, and the darkest depths of the sea. And she was alone, with no idea that anything existed beside herself; until one day, or night - for who could track the passage of time in that abyss? - she found detritus, floating down from the surface. Twisted flesh still clinging to cracked bones, and thin wisps of memory and personality wound around them. Iskraleth took the strange warped things and shaped them, making things that could live in the depths near to her, spiny aquatic things suited to the dark seaplains, and she affixed to them tiny lights, made out of the remnants of soul. She did this for years, perhaps, reaching higher and higher for raw materials until she found flesh and bone that looked nothing like the original drifting bodies, but instead were flesh all over bone, sometimes with air still inside, sometimes with a thinking mind still attached. This confused her, and piqued her curiosity, and so when one of the strange creatures fell into the surface of the water, she left a spark of herself within him, and so when he was dragged out of the water and back onto the vessel he'd fallen from, she came with him.

And oh, what a place! The strange creatures were numerous, and crawled about the vessel like seaspiders, and sang all the day. And oh, what songs! Iskraleth had only ever heard the vast songs of the stars, the echoes of the universe's origin, or the songs of the animals that inhabited the upper reaches of the sea. The songs of the floaters were thin and quick and sharp-edged, and above all else new - and novelty had a quite high appeal to an immortal.

Iskraleth tangled her feelers into the edges of the floaters' minds, and from the shape of their thoughts she learned that their vessel had already been tossed about in a storm, and was unlikely to survive another.

And another storm did come; a cruel tempest. Iskraleth had no particular empathy for the sailor-creatures, but she knew: they had hosted her, though unknowingly, and that as their guest she had obligations. And so, she turned her starlight eyes towards the ship, and saw possibility, and paths - for as it is true that two open eyes will see more deeply than one, so too would millions of open eyes see deeper than any human's. And Iskraleth saw the pathway through the storm, and whispered in the ears of the sailors what to do, and she danced on the masts of their ship, as ghost-green fire. Some sailors fell into the water, and when the connections of soul to body were snapped in death she plucked them out of the water and tie them to her, as was her right, but many more sailors survived, and she appeared before them as a fragment of herself, modeled off some of their memories and her favorite children, and they knelt, and her fragment became many more fragments that hid within each sailor.

And so it was, that when the sailors reached the shore and walked on dry earth, they brought her with them.

She wandered the earth for a time, and met many humans; and some were kind, and those she helped, and some were cruel, and those she did not. Out of those who earned her compassion, whether through courtesy or some new novelty, became the devotees of Iskraleth, Queen of Wanderers, Lady of the Lantern.

This was mostly all explained on the skype chat, but I thought I'd put it here and dress it up in pseudomythic wording.

It's perfectly fine, real life should come before internet fun anyway.

On the topic of relationships, Raymundo would most likely have little to do with any mortals, being a foreigner. I would think that Umdulivaris, once he comes into play, is a smidge opposed to Uredaj. Creation against the destruction of disease, and Progress against the stability of holding back death through medicine. Uredaj would also probably have issues with him based on his origin story, yeah? I'm open to discussion, especially whether or not they've had actual squabbles in the past.

EDIT: Oh yeah, if you're confused, think of the heaven realm as a dream-world kinda thing, where you can do whatever you want. It's legit an empty slate, but you don't want that shit. You want something better.
