This is definitely some dude's revenge fantasy against that girl who dumped him in high school, but at the very least I'm interested to see what happens next. Does seem a bit contrived that the entire country seems to go out of its way to make Shield Hero's life hell, even considering that the church is encouraging hatred of the Shield Hero because he's the hero of the beastmen which the church hates, since ultimately they are relying in him to save their world.
Fight for something, even if its meaningless.completely off-topic, but this thread won't register as read on my watchlist and clicking the link when it's bold brings me right to the first post. anyone knows how to fix this?
on-topic: i feel like Shield Hero is gonna get recommendations on production values alone, the animation in the PV was gorgeous and with the music of Kevin Penkin, who knocked it out of the park with the Made In Abyss soundtrack, it doesn't look like it will get a bad adaptation
Bumbleby is best ship. busy spending time on r/RWBY and r/anime. Unapologetic SocialistThe show does look and sound quite nice, which is something that last season's Goblin Slayer can't say (even with Goblin Slayer's great OP)
Fight for something, even if its meaningless.Saw the First ep.
....That was what was causing such a tizzy amongst the community?
I can understand Goblin Slayers explicit rape making such a wave, but a false rape accusation caused that much of a poor reaction? I get that it can be a false narrative on how they happen more often in the eyes of MRA redpill nice guy types than they think, but it still happens.
I liked the production values, and while the idea of a shield user being useless in combat compared to other weapons is dumb in real life (Shield Bashing is pretty common) it's still not that ideal on the frontlines, and they generally are meant to be tanks to soak up damage (Even in real life, those that used shields primarily in combat were still the ones that generally tried to tank enemy attacks and wear them down so that more offense based weapon users cold tear through the front lines more easily).

Watch Symphogearthe issue is that there is more stuff coming, which the source readers knows about, that really gives it the impression it was written by an incel
Bumbleby is best ship. busy spending time on r/RWBY and r/anime. Unapologetic SocialistHas the author ever actually been in any interviews (like Re Zero and Konosuba's authors) that give the impression that they are an incel?
I'll wait and see for now. The anime could change aspects of the series. It happened with Made in Abyss in downplaying the Lolicon and Shotacon aspects.
Watch SymphogearI'm just saying that when you have a false rape accusation AND the hero legally changes her name to 'bitch/whore' AND she gets sent to be raped and murdered, AND she betrays the entire world AND the hero is a benevolent slave master of women....we might have to talk.
Yeah the accusation itself is not the issue, it’s everything that comes afterwards.
It’s a “that and the kitchen sink” type deal.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Jesus...
Reading the trope page, the first part is either false or was changed from Web Novel to Light Novel: Her name is changed to Witch and she's burned at the Stake instead.
Watch SymphogearI also recall something about the guy getting stronger than the rest of the heroes because of all the hate he has.
Which just shows how much the series goes to justify the guy's nasty attitude.

A rose by any other name would smell as sweet Unless I grew it. In that case, throw it in the trash. Its stated thats its because The other heroes use pure Game Logic and don't put any real emotion into their powering up. Because Naofumi isn't quite the Hikkikomori like the other 3, he was never as obsessed with games as they are, so instead of viewing the world with game logic, Naofumi views it as a real world instead of a game world.
Watch SymphogearThere's also the issue with the author going out of his way to make them incompetent evil dumbasses to make the MC look good. IIRC, all of them fail hard one way or another and gets helped by the MC. They are pretty much caricatures of the "chads" incels talk about. Maybe one would be okay, but all three are popular, handsome and jerks, so there's obvious malice here.
IRC the long-haired womanizer gets betrayed & traumatized by the same woman so hard he can't see & hear women as anything but pigs apparently.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."The more I learn about this the more I hate it.
You think being killed by two yanderes would have caused that sooner. Seriously, that's how he ended up in the other world. Pretty sure that says something.

A rose by any other name would smell as sweet Unless I grew it. In that case, throw it in the trash. As far as I know, that one woman is the only female asshole (enemies notwithstanding) in the series. All the other females are decent human beings who aren't pieces of shit, so I really don't think it counts as misogynistic.
That said, I've only read the manga adaptation.
Give the God Eater game thread some love!I've heard that the author is actually a woman, really hard to find a good source to confirm it, though.
That would be hilarious
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. The artist for the manga is female, but I didn't find any source of Aneko Yusagi's gender, and the name seems to be a pen name.

So the author's a female incel?
Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo.I've heard reports from Comiket that just about every "man gets revenge on a woman" doujin is written by a woman.

Any sources at all?
Found this.

Not sure if it's accurate at all though.

That's my take on it as well.
