Not so remote place after all

I remember in a show, a long time ago. People were lost in a island after a crash of some sort. They tried to get out of the island and figure out where they are. After multiple tries, they wonder where the hell are they. Cue the camera giving us a dezoomed view of the place. Turns out they're not in a remote place at all, they are 50km away from the nearest city. The only thing is that they don't know it.

Does this trope exists in some form ? The characters misunderstands the place they are lost as uncharted and remote when it really isn't. But they have to ignore it for it to work. Tell me what you think about this.

You might want to ask the Trope Finder for this.
