Enter The Arena As Your Avatar -- Spinoff Discussion

It'll begin not too long from now, but considering how powerful they are, this fight will take a long time, so it's not a bad thing if someone enters late.

That was a cool battle to watch/read. Too bad the G Ms didn't reply to me in time :< I guess I'll join in as someone else in the meantime.

I'm going to try and keep my voice as neutral as possible when talking about this issue, because it's one that really irritates me about the arena right now.

I, and I think other people as well, have noticed a particular trend in the way interactions in the arena go. One of a select few people brings in a character, another player in that group appears and, even if they don't know that character, immediately goes up and begins interacting, and in the process everyone else is hedged out to the periphery of the scene. It's really bugging me because it makes it that much more difficult for my characters to get involved in the plots of the arena, and restricts who I can actually roleplay with.

@Ichigo Montoya: You're the one who does this most often and most obviously, and I'd like to request that you try and interact with people other than DevilPsycho, SymeSynth, SacredSpirit, and any other old-timers I missed. I say most obviously because as soon as none of the above three are online, you immediately leave with the disclaimer "might come back later", and then immediately reappear when one of them returns. It's actually kind of a dick move, as if you're saying that none of the rest of us are worth RP'ing with.

@4mask This is bothering me WAAAY more than it should, but it's Devil Psyco, not Devil Psycho.

It's his choice who he plays with, and I can kinda see why he does so.

Part of the reason I myself am so often found in the peanut gallery is because I don't feel like putting my fairly serious characters, which I've put comparatively large amounts of effort into, up against someone who's just going to go "I dodge your [attack] and zap you with lightning/throw a fireball/etc". I feel that that would undermine them as characters. (They also tend to have more limits, as I play more realistically than a player like that.) And even though players like that do take damage, it's also just as (un)satisfying to read "the attack hits for moderate damage". I like to play with more depth than a Pokémon match.

Admittedly, most of the players currently frequenting the Arena aren't half-bad, and the other, much larger reasons I don't play much are 1. timezones, 2. doing other stuff, 3. too tired to feel it, 4. sometimes have trouble keeping up with chaos with 5 ppl involved (and I think Ichigo Montoya is the same), 5. sometimes hard finding the right opportunity to enter. I want to and should play more, and maybe I should just enter my characters and see what happens. A fight like that wouldn't be the end of the world. Heck, it might actually be fun.

But my point is, it's his choice when and how he plays, and you can't and shouldn't force him to play anytime or with anyone he doesn't want to. Games are meant to be fun, and when you start telling or obligating people to play them... no game should be a second job, or a moral obligation.

@4mask: You're pretty good, I'm hoping for an opportunity to play with you sometime. I'm not directing my criticism at anyone in particular, mostly a playstyle.

We wrapped up two plots there, rite ? The Darklings and the Twins.

@MicoolTNT: The last I'll say on the specific matter in my spoiler to Ichigo is that I'm just making a request of him. It's up to him whether or not he follows it, and I'll try to restrain myself from bringing it up again.

That being said, I do understand where you're coming from with your personal reasons. I know that I may have been guilty of some of the things you mentioned there (the fact that my primary combat character is effectively a type-focused nullifier doesn't help matters). I think what I'm asking the veterans is this: give the new players a chance.

@Bolded1: The twins plot is wrapped up? I didn't think that had been finished because Sacred was gone. I mean yes, for all intents and purposes that plot is wrapped up, because the whole thing is simply in a stasis until they are all online at once, but ''technically'' no.

The Hate Plague Event has begun and will last a day in real time. Good luck, avatars and players.

Main reason I planned this event in the first place is because I was feeling sadistic. And I'm not sorry should friendships break apart (in-character or out of character). >:D

And, again with me being me: no drama or you get a good rant, courtesy of me.

Notes: this Hate Plague won't always have a violent effect to everyone. It depends on your character.

EDIT: Now, I just realized, two days seems to be too dark. Let's reduce that to one.

Quick question; is the Hate Plague magic based, and would it be affected by dispel?

The general plot about the twins is resolved, as they're saved, but their role isn't over yet.

Meanwhile, I'm making myself feel horrible for making Lucas and Claus fight each other to the death...

@Daydre: It can be dispelled with any type of magic meant to cleanse or remove spells. Simple.

And Reland tries to bluff Ditachi with Protocol 42. Sadly, unlike with Anubis, it didn't work out so well. Still, I will always remember the first time he used it in V4. Ah, the memories...the fact that Reland managed to troll Anubis into believing that he was going to destroy everything, when 42 was just something made up on the fly.

Ditachi believed him but thought that Reland lacked the balls to go trough.

Also, he might appears as Pain, Zeref or Kaguya. And this time, he'll be very stealthy, beware !

Heu, Sacred, if you want to RP with Devil and Ichigo characters, just use your character's powers to make them somewhat immune to the plague, something like that.

And why are you forced to RP with them if you want to bring in a Kaijuu ?
