It looked like the internet had some buzz going on - there was some scrutiny of Cale now that he brought "that" into "a school your kids and siblings are going to".
Terry looked around as he took his seat, trying to look more at home here, wondering whether he'd be able to befriend some of these people.
Jake didn't seem all that affected by the appearance of the new kid, already working on a worksheet the teacher was starting to hand out.
Meanwhile in the music room, the teacher - a rather disoriented looking thirty something year old man, entered - he looked young in the face, though his black hair was receded, his eyes grey, and his form looking rather thin and wiry. He was dressed in a white button-up shirt and black dress pants.
"Alright, alright, sorry for my tardiness, I'll hold myself ten minutes after class is over. My name's Jeremy Bracken, and I will be your music teacher. Some of you may know me - I was a hero over in Europe for a while." Truth be told he was a very obscure one, not exactly someone anyone would remember.
Lapis couldn't help but laugh at this teacher's comment, "So, where shall we begin?" Lapis asked, looking forwards to the class.
"We'll start with a sharing project..."
Mr. Bracken started to pass out worksheets with some questions on them related to proficiency and how much experience each student had, "Once this is done, we'll introduce ourselves."

Lapis eagerly answered all the questions and placed his pencil down. "So when do I get to play your acoustic bass over there?" He didn't even realize what he'd asked. "Sorry." A classic case of open mouth insert foot. Lapis wanted to slap himself for that question and almost did until he was made to remember the scratch on his face, Dammit Danelle. Man that hit was really getting to him.

Rachel found herself completely unable to concentrate in class. She tried paying attention to the teacher, but her head ached so much that she couldn't hear a word. She rested her head on her hand and grimaced as she tried to shut out the pain.
"Ms. North," the teacher said, and Rachel's eyes snapped open. "This is the first day of classes, so I'm willing to cut a little slack. But in the future, please try to be in some condition for learning when you come to class."
"Sorry," she mumbled.

Shortly after the worksheets were completed, the students were allowed to test out some of the instruments as long as they were careful. As Lapis went to get to the acoustic device, however, he was contacted by Emma Frost, I recall you were there last night...I thought you should know something came up relating to you. Please go with the aide I am sending to your room to Mr. Bluefield's office.
Outside of Rachel's classroom, Danelle watched, even though she was on her way to Lapis' room to perform the function Emma required of her. Something is off about Rachel. I'm not willing to put it to a rumor yet, but...
She kept walking, thinking about cutesy little Lapis and the badass scar she gave him. It certainly at least in her mind made him a bit more rugged / manly looking.
Lapis pouted at first, but quickly raced through his mind what he could be involved in. It hit him, Shit, here? I thought they were gone from my life, I quit the Four Lord's of the North. Then he remembered Emma was listening, It's them isn't it? He didn't bother waiting and waltzed right out square into Danelle, "Ow, fuck!" Great, now she's here too. "What'd you need?" He didn't even try to pretend to look pleased, "It'd best be important, I got stuck on Emma duty."
"She told you you were to meet up with an aide, right? You already met her." Danelle said in her happy voice.Though it was somewhat evident by the fact her smile didn't reach her eyes that she wasn't very happy about this.
"What did you do to get Cale's attention? You realize these Silicon Valley types are like 90% ruthless sociopath, right?" She said that last bit while inching closer to Lapis, not making it apparent what exactly she was doing in moving that close.
It could be a threat, or it could be flirtation.
Meanwhile, Rachel oddly started to feel a strange heat pressing down. The teacher seemed to blur into the board.
She then heard something whisper in her ear, crisp, clear, unlike the suddenly muffled voices of everyone else; "Run."

Rachel extended her force field to its full 10' diameter, covering as many other students as she could to protect them from whatever she assumed was about to happen. She was looking out the window, figuring the threat would come from that direction, so didn't notice a small black spot on her force field.

The First Strike
And that black spot seemed to magnify, expanding and starting to resemble something. Oddly, the other students in the class seemed frozen in time as soon as the thing appeared in force.
It resembled a strange hybrid between organic life form and mechanical creation. It looked like it had a gas mask for a face, except the middle was split open showing layers upon layers of black teeth and a silver mechanical tongue. Its shoulders were large and joined by what looked like a cable with numerous smaller versions of its shoulder guard along the cable.
There were four arms in total, ending in large talons, and its legs extended out of a saucer-shaped piece at the end of the torso, which seemed to curve forward.
Initially, the creature seemed to just scan over its surroundings, barely noticing Rachel except for including her in its survey.
In her shock, Rachel instinctively drew the force field in close. There was still a black spot, about chest height, small enough that it didn't get her attention.
"Uh, hello?" she said to the creature in front of her. She immediately felt stupid. She doubted it was there for a pleasant conversation. But she had no idea what she was supposed to be doing.
They should have used the assembly yesterday to go over the procedures for a surprise attack on the school, she thought. Or maybe they did those before I got here? Were there pamphlets? Shit, I'll bet there were pamphlets. That's what I get for being late getting to the school. I was too late for a pamphlet, so now I'm going to get killed by some alien-looking . . . being? I'm not sure what term I should use. Should I ask what pronouns are preferred? It would be the polite thing to do.
She knew her rambling thoughts were a sign of how scared she was, but she just couldn't stop.

Lapis pushed two fingers forwards, lightly tapping her on the forehead, "It's going to leave a scar, yes. But it'd be nice if you didn't breath on it. Clearly, you still need to work on honesty. Come along then, we shouldn't waste time." Lapis turned and began walking down the hall towards Bluefield's office.

A previously indescript boy stood up and kicked out his leg, attempting to trip Lapis as he made his way towards Bluefield's office. If he succeeded, a 'clumsy' smile would come over his face and he'd offer a hand to help him out.
"Sorry," he'd rush to say whether or not he managed to trip Lapis, "but I think you're heading to the wrong place."

Lapis looked up, clearly a guy, "Jee everyone's gotta have it out for me today."
"It's not that I have something out for you," Chris said. His happy demeanor trembled for a moment, but his smile resurged. "But there's something out there that does. Might sound freaky, but—"
Chris shrugged and itched at the back of his neck. He wasn't sure how he had mistaken her for a girl, but— latent sexism, probably. Freud meddling with him, or maybe he got so used to people mistaking him for a girl he started doing it to others.
"I really don't think you should keep going this way. Maybe I can help you find something less fatal to do."
The creature stopped moving and then suddenly moved, turning to look at Rachel and scanning her over more thoroughly. It let out a rather dark, machine-like monotone from its maw;
Potential Detected. Commencing detainment.
All four of its arms rushed at Rachel suddenly, each one coming in from a different angle.
"Are you threatening me?" Lapis looked down this weird guy who just tripped him up. "I'm not afraid of you." With thay, Lapis pulled up his rings, morphing them into brass knuckles of sorts.
However, that was when Danelle moved, after the chain of events suddenly went like this. She suddenly went right for the previously nondescript boy, her hand suddenly covered in dark steel, looking outright like a claw and stopping mere inches from his face.
The other hand went to punch the new guy in the gut. "Hey, only I get to push Lapi-Lapi around!!"
She then sweetened up, and spoke toward him, though just barely, "He's kinda like a boyfriend in that way."

Chris was hit in the stomach and he staggered back two steps. He wasn't actually hurt that much by the blow, but it was clearly unexpected. His nice, happy facade collapsed for a moment; but he threw it back on quickly.
"You—you didn't need to do that. I'm not—bullying—I'm not threatening— I'm trying to help!" As he spoke, his silvery-gray wings unfurled from behind his back and his eye started to twitch.
"Look. I'm—I'm a freak, right? I have this sense of when really bad things are going to happen. And— something really bad is going to happen if you continue this way."

Lapis looked at Danelle, "I'll let that slide for a moment, but we're coming back to that." He turned to this moth looking guy, "I don't have time to waste arguing, but I can tell you this, destiny is how we shape it, not how it is 'sensed' like I could change your destiny by ripping off those wings of yours but I won't, yet another change." With that he grabbed Danelle by the hand, "We've not the time, let's go."
Danelle moved up to Lapis and nodded, not liking the tone this guy was taking. Destiny? Hmph...right.
She kept moving to guide Lapis on toward Bluefield's office, though she did have some sort of sense for the fact maybe this guy did have something.
Still, being called to Bluefield's office is...auspicious...
"Holy shit!" Rachel shouted. She closed her eyes and instantly expanded her force field to push away the arms. She could feel them putting pressure on the field, and while it wasn't enough yet to cause her problems, she wasn't about to stick around and wait. "Holy shit! Holy shit!" She turned and ran, constricting her force field as she did, so the creature's arms, no longer with anything between them, clapped together.
Rachel burst through the door and kept running. She had no idea which direction she was running or where she was going. "Holy shit! Holy sh-!" She suddenly stopped running as the thought hit her. She'd left a lot of people back in the class, at the mercy of that whatever-it-was. She'd always prided herself on her refusal to back down when she saw someone threatened.
On the other hand, she'd never had to stand up to something like that before.
"Son of a bitch," she hissed as she turned back around to head back to the classroom. She could at least make sure the thing would follow her. Maybe she could lead it to someone who knew how to deal with it.

Lapis had to focus on keeping himself steady, freaked out by that other guy. Without even noticing he caught up with Danelle and interlocked his fingers with his companion. His grip was tight but not a squeeze.
Daniel filling out the papers given by the teacher and yawning, still considering what everyones powers could be. He already kn... Wait? He pauses as he turned to look behind him a bit. "Wasn't Rachel sitting back there a minute ago?" He said to himself in a confused mumble.
He looks down to see if her stuff is still there, if anything else had changed or was he just that tired from last night?

Lapis sat in the room waiting for his teacher. The longer he sat, the more his eyes drifted to the beautiful acoustic bass sitting in front of him.
