A long time ago, on a Galaxy far, far away...

After a long and terrible war, the Galaxy stands on an unsteady equilibrium. The Old Republic was splintered, it's very foundations shaken by political unrest, corruption and a terrible religious conflict which gave birth to the War of the Shattering. After a long period of shifting loyalties and brutal conflict, the Republic was no more with two mayor entities forming from it's fall. The Kalenite Empire, forming around the charismatic and forceful figure of Akustos Kale who promised to give the galaxy and its tired, useless bureaucracy a true direction and purpose. Through forceful, direct means he gave his followers leadership as it hasn't been seen for generations, taking what once was a small sector of the galaxy and expanding at an incredible pace even when pitted against the far more vast and massive Republic. However, the Old Republic had grown sluggish and bloated, corruption and old feuds weakening it's capacity for action... and it's measures to stop the advance of Kale brought out untold bloodshed. It wasn't until the very structure of the Republic was scrapped and organization, the Galatic Federation born on its ashes that the Empire found a worthy rival... and after a terrible battle the two would sign a shaky peace.

It has been seventy two years since the signing of the Silver Peace and since then things have remained mostly the same. The Empire and Federation trade a few star systems in border skirmishes, their colonization attempts grew bolder as they face off against one another... and the true border between them still sees great capital ships posted to stand guard against ill action from one to the other.

The planet of Sharath lies far away from most interests... set on the Outer Rim of the Galaxy, capable of bearing life... though not all too comfortably. Used by smuggling gangs as a rest stop in a roundabout route to escape Federation authorities, it was then settled by a small colonization initiative by the Federation a couple years after the end of the war. Currently, Sharath has a mayor city, a few towns and many homesteads on its surface... what once were smugglers and gangs of thugs were given authority by the local government to work as colonial marshals and enforcers. Thugs and criminal with badges... but criminals all the same. As a testament to the loose Federate control on Sharath, an Imperial Mining Enterprise managed to set up base upon the surface of the planet, growing over a decade to become a town of its own by the sheer right that the colonial government hasn't dared try to deal with them.

Life is harsh for the common man on the surface of this hot planet... natural resources are scarce, crops require a lot of attention to grow and the Colonial Authorities and its Enforcers squeeze the populace dry to nourish themselves. The planet could prosper with the right tools and the right people... but these seems hard to come by. What once was a hopeful new beginning became as sad and desolate as the ruins of starships, sinking into the sands from one of the battles of the Shattering...

The Karn Clan is one of those enduring the rough times in Sharath. Daren Karn, a veteran of the war was one of those involved in the taming of the planet... one of the first colonists. He established for himself a good lot of land and led a humble life, though from time to time, he had voice and opinion in the Colonial Government. His kids detached themselves from such... a few going off their own way, while others remained to nourish the farm he started.

Unfortunately, his grandchildren don't fare well. Their parents, Jorah and Seilah killed in a suspicious incident and leaving behind a debt to the wrong people forced the oldest siblings to redouble their efforts back at the Old House, trying to keep it all afloat for the little ones. The Karn's were always great people... helping those in need without a care. And all who were in need, lost and adrift knew that the doors of the Karn Farm were always open. While Jorah and Seilah lived they embraced many such souls... and reassured them that everyone under their roof was a Karn. One of the Clan. Their grandchildren keep this tradition... the teachings of kindness passed down from their grandfather.

However... dark times approach Sharath and bad people have their eyes upon their small farm and family. Will desperation push this family beyond their humble origins, to recover a legacy lost among grandfather's old heirlooms... to go beyond the blue sky of Sharath and into the wider galaxy?

Hi there! So that's about the pitch of it... a Star Wars RP, going apart from canon events and concentrating more on themes, aesthetics and some myth of the series instead of solid continuity and the established galaxy.

On this game we all would play members of the Karn family, whenever the young adults and kids of Jorah and Seilah or adopted members of the family, aliens, robotic farmhands and kids abandoned by the roughness of the planet. Friends of the children adopted into the farmstead or the partners and couple of the older kids... basically, those who made their way to live within the family. Will you be one who had aspirations to be an Imperial Pilot, shipping out to your training at the Academy only to be pulled back to the farm after your parent's dead a year from it? The family's bookworm, studying hard to ace the Federation's tests so hard that you get scooped to study in the great Corruscant? The young wookie kid brought as a slave to the planet and rescued by the Karn parents to be brought into a loving home? The littlest one of the family dreaming big and playing hard while admiring your older siblings? The quirky robot that is long due a memory wipe but someone always has an excuse to save you from it?

As you may tell from this, nobody ought to start the RP as quite proficient in any given field... the Karn family is gifted, but at the moment they are only kids out trying to keep their farm afloat, way away from anything important in the galaxy. At the very start, our characters should have the foundations to grow into something bigger... but only that. A hopeful beginning and tons of untapped potential. Talents that all ought to sum up a way to help the family deal with what is to come... let us say that we won't be able to remain in the farm too long.

I'll be playing one of the elder siblings in the game and will work on them once I get a little interest... thing this may be a good game? Like the direction I'm giving this endeavor? Got any feedback or requests? Please let me know!

If I'm sure of something it's that I'm not sure of anything.

Hm... I'll admit that I've been peeking into this one here and now because hey, I've been craving a Star Wars rp.

I do have a couple of questions though.

Would playing an older-'ish' sibling be possible? Say, around the age of 15 or so?

Also, how is the Force and all that elegant stuff and lovely doohickey stuff being handle here?

Actually siblings in age go up to like 23 years of age for the oldest ones and from there down.

As for the Force... let us say that for the current state of affairs, the Force is out of vogue. Kinda the same level as the start of Episode 4 a New Hope, perhaps a little more than it.

If I'm sure of something it's that I'm not sure of anything.

Re: Re: Force- Don't know how well kids of mixed species under one roof having blasters would work.

Hm... I see. I do have an idea that I would like to throw for a character if this does get off the ground, if that would be okay.

Extremely interested.

That sounds like an adventure. Count me in.

I have an idea of playing a former ganger, if that would be permissable.

Alright, that seems like more than enough interest!

I'll be running a sister, either second oldest or oldest at 23 years of age. She's a pillar of the family, nice and stands up for everyone. She does some salvaging as well as work on the farm.

Here is the signup sheet for you guys to follow.

  • Name: What are you called? Rather straightforward. If you're adopted into the family, you're still a Karn.
  • Gender: Male, female, doesn't apply, both, neither.
  • Age: How old are you? Young adult, roughly 23 years of age for humans is the top.
  • Species: The Karns are humans, though the people they have adopted may not be.
  • Appearance: The Karns kids usually have auburn hair, mom was a redhead and dad had dark brown hair. Their eyes are almost always blue, though there are green genes there somewhere.
  • Personality: How do you act? How do you think? How do you get along with your siblings?
  • Relationships: Leave Empty for now. Once we have the whole family figured out, we can decide who gets along the best with who, who are rivals or don't like each other and such.
  • Skills: What can you do? Where do your gifts lie? Nothing big for now, just a foundation.
  • Weaknesses: What is it that brings you down? Please provide something tangible and this will be things by the which your character can either be brought down, manipulated by or bribed for.
  • Possessions: What do you own that you are proud off? Not a lot of weaponry to begin with, we most likely only have bad basters or a hunting rifle to ward off predators as a family.
  • Noteworthy Events: What noteworthy things have happened in your life?

Remember, you may play as a member of the family, boyfriend/girlfriend of a member of the family brought into the farm, urchin or cast off adopted into the family, family droid or the like.

If I'm sure of something it's that I'm not sure of anything.

  • Name: 3CH0 (Pronounced Echo.)
  • Gender: Masculine Programming
  • Age: 26 (Been with the family for 20 years)
  • Species: Droid
  • Appearance: Around 5'10" in Height, Black Metallic body frame with knight like head design, Blue "eyes" on a Visor like faceplate. Wears a brown overcoat and dark grey pants with a set of leather workboots. In short appearance is something like this mixed with this.
  • Personality: Echo is best described as a droid that has spent too much time active and thus he is constantly bored, he's not easily irritated thankfully and rather quite calm but revels a chance to actually do something.
  • Relationships:
  • Skills: Echo is a decent shot with a blaster and a decent pilot, he'd be a decent hacker if his body was built for that purpose.
  • Weaknesses: EMP blasts, Jammers, electrical shots, blasters, Echo's a specialized combat droid stuck with a worn out body
  • Possessions: A DL-18 Blaster pistol
  • Noteworthy Events:
    • First came off the assembly line
    • Served for 4 years as a guard to some politician or something else
    • Attempted to join Bounty Hunting for 2 years.

  • Name: Bendis Karn
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 19
  • Species: Human
  • Appearance: Bendis took after his mom's red hair. Wiry and full of energy, he's built like a tightly coiled spring—short, but compact. His face is very sharp, with high cheekbones and a thin face. He wears padded leather clothes, beat up and mended hundreds of times over.
  • Personality: Bendis is not one for authority. He doesn't enjoy holding a solid job—he thinks that at his age, he shouldn't try to hold himself down into a single profession. The galaxy is a vast place to him, and any chance to get offworld would be great, if it weren't for his family. Try as he might, he refuses to leave them behind; he isn't sure whether it's love or guilt that keeps him.
  • Relationships:
  • Skills:
    • Bendis is a well-rounded blue-collar worker. If it doesn't pay much and it's easy to get a job in, he's probably done it for at least a month. He's retained knowledge about these jobs well, and is highly adaptable as a result. These low-level jobs have also given him the nearly superhuman ability to focus on an end-goal: he can put up with anything if he knows there's a reward at the end. He can also stand and walk for long periods.
    • Bendis fights fairly well, typically with a blunt improvised weapon like a hydrospanner or something; he mostly just uses his superior endurance to wait out an opponent for a good hit. While technically trained with the local militia, Bendis hated his time there and didn't even bring home the free stuff.
  • Weaknesses:
    • If Bendis thought he had the chance to get away from his family under the expectation that they'd be okay without him, he would totally do it. He also is not nearly as experienced as he'd like to be; the longest he's ever held a job is four months, so he is prone to freezing up and having a brain-fart, forgetting what comes next halfway through any number of different technical procedures that typically do not accomodate for people just stopping halfway through.
  • Possessions:
    • A really nice Kuat Drive Yards Hydrospanner, which values weight and durability over ease of use
    • A collection of a dozen different company uniforms from past jobs
    • A box of galactic maps and star charts
    • A collection of old adventure novels
  • Noteworthy Events:
    • Made it through basic schooling
    • Worked to help hold up the family across a dozen jobs
    • Was about to run off to be a fighter pilot—couldn't leave his family, ran home at the day of the launch.
    • Was about to leave for a job as an engineer on a trade frigate—couldn't leave his family, ran home at the day of the launch.
    • Joined up with the militia briefly before returning home again.

Name: Elize Karn.

Gender: Female.

Age: 18.

Species: Human.

Appearance: Short (4' 11"), with dark skin and hair to match. Rather chubby, but still reasonably attractive. Her eyes are an odd maroon color, and she has a disorder called aniridia, which gives her truly awful eyesight and the appearance of having no pupil in her eyes.

Personality: Generally nice, but very shy. Not painfully so, but she doesn't talk much. She's a hard worker and will do what's asked of her without complaining (outwardly, at least), and keeps a diary hidden under her bed. She also loves reading books, and is very much The Stoic.

Relationships:

Skills: She's very good at taking care of plants and livestock and such. That doesn't mean she enjoys it, mind, but she's one of the best people for it in the area. She can also cook very well.

Weaknesses: She has the habit of bottling up all her negative emotions and stowing them away somewhere until something triggers their release. If someone or something pushes her enough, she will either blow up or break down.

Possessions: Her diary, several of her favorite books, and the pan she used below, which has the seat of honor in the kitchen.

Noteworthy Events: She was adopted as an infant, and knows it, given that her skin is as dark as the Karn's is light. She doesn't really care much, though. She also memorably defended herself from a slimy (literally) suitor with nothing but a pan and a bottomless well of rage while on a shopping trip in town.

  • Name: Stark 'Novis'/Karn, refuses to go by his adopted family last name in public due to his job.
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 21
  • Species: Human
  • Appearance: Somewhat tall, be somewhat above 6 feet. Short yet smooth black hair that is surprisingly kept decently well for a male, his eyes are dark-brown and his skin is a light color but has gotten a light tan over the years. Currently has a lean build with slightly visible muscles, although there are also numerous scars around his body. Usually wears tight leather clothes.
  • Personality: Pretty friendly despite his appearance and kind for the most part. Can easily get on people's nerves when pointing out things they don't want to hear, but will also rush to someone's side who he believes is in the right no matter the cost to the point it may cost him his life.
  • Relationships:
  • Skills: Simply, Stark is someone who knows how to brawl and fight for survival. For that is what he does day to day to bring an income to the family that he cherishes and loves. The scars that he carries on him are not just for show, but a reminder of all the times of how close he has been to failing, and how close he has been to not bringing money from the many fight clubs he has been to for a year. Because of this, Stark has a strong undying willpower to never give up even if put through harsh conditions.
    • He is also knows how to pull off many dirty tricks from the fights that he participated in as well if he has to, if it means protecting his family.
    • Knows how to fight with makeshift weapons in a pinch.
  • Weaknesses: Truth be told, he's afraid of what his family might think if they were to actually see him in his fights that people place bets on... sure, they pay well... but the things that he has had to do in them bothers him a lot. He also wonders what if he doesn't come back one day and if he fights someone who's too strong. There's a lot of things that goes in Stark's mind about what he does in the fight clubs, but for the most part he just tries to keep it to himself despite what his wounds may say.
  • Possessions: His two classic jack commando blades that are his signature weapons in the fight clubs for 'Death Match' nights. They were his gifts from his real father until he was adopted into the Karn family, and they were the first weapons that he used in the fight clubs when permitted to.
  • Noteworthy Events: Got hired at a fight club and has gained the ring name 'Hyena' due to a specifically gruesome fight. Not only that but he has gotten into more life-threatening situations then he can remember.

  • Name:Bennet Karn
  • Gender:Male'''
  • Species:Human
  • Apperance: Just under five feet tall, a little on the wider side, and with an athletic build. Kind of like a linebacker. Many hours under the Sharathi sun has left him with deep reddish-brown complexion to match his hair, a permanent-yet-slight squint, and a taste wide brimmed hats and dusters. that keep his hide from peeling right off. He's not well acquainted with regular shaving, so a good portion of his face is obscured with a meticulously cared-for beard, while his head is head is more closely shaven. An subtle grouping of stress lines have carved themselves into his forehead and along the sides his forest green eyes. Bennet's likely to have some bit or bauble on his clothing to indicate he's with law enforcement, despite the stigma it carries on-planet.
  • Personality: Ever since he was a boy, Bennet was a more dutiful, follow-the-rules-and-stay-decent sort of person. For the most part, he'd go out of the way to help someone who he thought needed it. On Sharath, that often required a person to learn how to fight; in time, that came just a naturally to Bennet. So did anger, and a desire to see the world change regardless of how much more fighting it'd cause. Honor can take precedent before calm in Bennets' mind. That all being said, his honest-to-force friends are few and far in-between, preferring the company of people he's known for a long time and can more trust deeply. Failing that, some time alone to contemplate and let off some steam does just fine by him.
  • Relationships:
  • Skills: Bennet made the (probably wise) decision to pursue police training off-planet, starting his education from the Coruscant Security Force at the age of sixteen. He's taken on assorted skills in weapons training, driving, criminal law and social interactions in the process of arrest and interrogation, but is at a lack of genuine field experience. It was hardly a year after having graduated that he went speeding back home upon hearing of his parents' death.
  • Weaknesses: Bennet carries a lot of rage and resentment towards the anarchic, corrupt nature of his homeworld. That, coupled with an inordinately powerful sense of justice and honor can end up with Bennet quixotically charging towards what he perceives to be the cause of world's problems at the moment. Force-forbid that 'source' happen to be in a position of authority, or else it'll have to deal with a temperament that'd make a Sith lord wince. Despite this, Bennet still believes that a firm adherence to the rule-of-law is the best means to better Sharath, and pursuing justice through purely legal channels can be difficult to say the least. Bending the rules to his benefit him isn't something he's comfortable doing on a regular basis, even if he believes it's for the greater good.
  • Possessions:
    • DH-17 Blaster Pistol: Standard issue for most law enforcement agents throughout the galaxy. Semi-automatic by default, capable of firing of short bursts and a non-lethal 'stun' setting
    • Durasteel Binders:Hard to enforce the law without them.
    • Speeder Bike: Standard issue for the fuel-starved Sharathi law enforcement, or at least as Bennet claims.
    • Comm-Tranciever:Good for keeping a conversation going a couple dozen miles away
    • Locket: Holds a holo-image of Ma and Pa Karn. Used to make him calm, but now....
    • Durni's foot:First call he ever got on Sharath was to catch a Durni that was tearing up some old woman's garden. It gave Barret a good chase, right into a long abandoned minefield. Fortunately for the officer, the Durni discovered that first; Barret kept was was left and called it a good luck charm.

  • Name: Ariadne Karn
  • Gender: Female
  • Age: 16
  • Species: Human
  • Appearance: Short, barely edging out over her adopted-sister and brother at 5 feet on the dot, with a sleek –charitably speaking- aerodynamics build. She has strawberry blond hair tied in athletic pony tail braids and startling emerald green eyes.
  • Personality: Carefree bordering on carelessness; as the baby of the family, she was kept shielded from the worst Sharath have to offers. With a youthful optimism and naïve compassion, she faces the world a wide grin. Though she’d red-facedly deny it, she still harbors a fascination with being a princess. Incidentally, she also possesses a paradoxical contrarian rebelliousness that makes her chafes against the words of her elder siblings and starry-eyed respect of them.
  • Relationships:
  • Skills: Intuitive grasp of spatial orientation, which is fancy speaks for a talent in piloting vehicles and dodging projectiles. Incredible amounts of bravado. Imagination! She doesn’t know it yet, but her incredible talent of holding her liquor makes her an awesome designated driver.
  • Weaknesses: Her low experiences with the less savory aspects of the world. Her untempered idealism, leaving her prey to trickery and deceit. Yet, most damaging to immediate relationship, her greatest weakness is her naïve thoughtlessness toward her own possibility of harming others. Have an unfortunate tendency to keep talking until they reaches maximum social awkwardness.
  • Possessions:
    • Goggles, helmets and other safety, all-round gears: For (the appearance of) lessening lethality of high-velocity metal box hurtling around.
    • Plushies: Shut up. They're cute.
    • Datapad: Contains various ploys ("stratagems") of hers to bother her brother into leasing her a Speeder Bike; half-written "Butler" Directive coded to be implemented on their droid. Absolutely doesn't contains any dreamy diary ("travelogue") entries nor sappy poems.
    • Shock Baton: Salvaged and arficially lengthened. She absolutely doesn't make vroom-vroom noises when no one is around and pretends to be a Jedi. That'd be silly.
  • Noteworthy Events:
    • As the baby of the family, she was largely sheltered growing up. Home-schooled.
    • “Now, this is Podracing!”
    • In the middle of fierce competition of a rival clan's son. Due to neither side having a ride of their own, the conflict is unlikely to be unresolved in the foreseeable future.
