I dropped this thread from my watchlist for some reason :/
This week's episode is about Pachislot regulations, SNK Playmore and their re-emergence into the video game market after spending the last half of this decade developing Pachislot machines exclusively. Konami is mentioned in passing, but the video's main focus is on pachinko and Pachislot machines as a whole which was interesting.
Or: How George Learned to Stop Worrying About Multiplayer Only and Love Rainbow Six Siege
That's not entirely true, but it's a good watch.
Oh, wow, I feel old. I had no idea bots were no longer a thing! It have just been that long since I gave a fuck about multiplayer shooters. That does seem baffling, though. Why are not more people talking about that?

It's been the norm for a long time. For like eight years at least.
The last multiplayer shooters I remember playing were Unreal Tournament, Counter Strike (the first) and Battlefield (also the first one). It have been that long since I've stopped playing attention on those things. Since I am mostly a single player guy, I just kinda assumed bots were still the go to single player mode.
The last shooter I vaguely felt like playing was Battlefront, but I never got around to it. So I guess I stopped around 2004-2005.

Like George said, once online got better there was no need for Bots. Still those things kinda need to be there regardless just in case.
youtube.com/Fire Trainer 92@Far Cry Primal review: I never went to nothing, to hyped to disappointed so fast in my life.
I haven't been following the game at all. I was vaguely aware of it, but paid no attention because I don't care about Far Cry. But the way Super Bunnyhop talked about it in the beginning really sold me on the game. I never gave any thought at all, but he showed me all the ways it could be good and even showed some of the ways the game did right. Then he showed everything that went wrong and now I am dishearten. Such a pity.
The idea where I thought I would compare the first levels of every big Sonic game but things get out of hand. After all, it's not like the other levels are going to be better.
Well... this is new.
"This week's fillery-esque topic is about something incredibly ridiculous I discovered earlier. It's also about those awful Flash propaganda games in general."

This video is a retrospective on bots, the guys you never wanted to play with but eventually you'll have to.

Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise?I agree with just about everything in this video, namely about how it was built for the fans and nobody else. MGS 4 was my first metal gear game and it turned me off of the series so hard. The cutscenes were way too long and filled with characters I didn't know or care and all the important plot points were explained via powerpoint presentation. And that's not to mention the codec conversations.
The gameplay felt stale as, yes, I could use all these cool gadgets and things to sneak past the enemies, or I can just keep headshotting every enemy I run across. The game's store system means I have unlimited silencers and ammo whenever I need it, and money certainly isn't scarce. And as a newcomer to the series, I couldn't wrap my head around the CQC controls at all and the game has no real tutorial to speak of.
I know the series has its merits (I enjoyed MGR, enjoyed an LP of the first, and plan on playing the 3rd and 5th), but this game did not sell me on the series at all.
Overall while this video isn't the best of George's video essays on metal gear (that would probably be his one on 2) it's still a really well done analysis. And this is coming from a guy who is a die hard defender of MGS 4. Also, the classroom setting was a nice touch
Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise?I still think this didn't really add anything new that wasn't already covered by Matthewmatosis and Metagearsolid.
In the interest of fairness I'll post this video by the gaming brit to act as a counter argument
TLDW: MGS 4 has a lot of dumb moments but for every moment that makes you bang your head against a wall there's a moment that's incredibly memorable.
Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise?Except MGS 4 shouldn’t need defending. None of the MGS games do.
Wow, this thread has been dead. Here's a 45-minute video essay about unionization efforts in the game industry.
