Is Turbo going to make a cameo in Star?

I like both shows to be honest. Steven is more about experimentation in animation while there seems to be a one take type directing in it's scenes which shows off its flowing animation. IT helps that Star has the people who worked on Wonder over Yonder.

Alan Tudyk is starting to become one of Disney's go-to actors these days, isn't he?

[up][up] I'm learning so much stuff in this forum I hadn't bothered to look up for myself. While so far I haven't found the story writing consistently stellar (haha, puns), sharing staff with WOY explains why the animation itself can be so creative it's more than just a medium, it's a joy to watch in itself. Things like Star being lit up by Marco's phone under the blanket. Or Marco dragging himself away from Miss Skullnick's love interest as he is (presumably) about to decapitate him - the fact that it goes completely unmentioned in the dialogue makes it much funnier.

I guess that depends on what someone prefer in terms of which is better. If you want a more slice of life dramedy with the occasional action sequence go with Steven Universe. If you want an over the top action comedy on the magical girl show with adult humor in it go with Star vs. The Forces of Evil.

It really is hard to tell which is better seeing how SU have like a whole season head start over Star (which just getting started), so the only way to compare the two is by comparing all of Star up to this point to half of the first season of SU. I have to go with Star, as honestly Steven Universe at that point got off on a slow start and never really got interesting until the Opal episode and Star came off strong at its debut episode giving me a good idea as to what kind of show I am getting into.

However, as for a battle between the two . . . yeah, I think the chances of the two fighting are very slim given their friendly nature. Most likely end up in a similar fashion as that Uncle Grandpa episode of SU . . . okay it would be a direct sequel where Star and Steven hangs out with Uncle Grandpa . . . and then it became a four way crossover the moment Rick and Morty showed up where Rick discover a huge reading of energy source gathering up and decided to steal it to use to his advantage . . . this gathering of weirdness ended up causing the leak of weird things coming into Gravity Falls . . . And said built up weirdness end up leaking into Regular Show and Adventure Time . . . Which cause Penn, Sashi and Boon to enter the scene possessing Finn, Beemo and Jake respectively to stop such weirdness . . . Rippen and Larry were going to take over as Rick and Morty, but Rick is somehow aware that some part time villains were going to possess him and Morty so he divert the two spirits into the bodies of some characters he doesn't give a fuck for (which is unfortunately Johnny and Dukey) and leave them trap in there for the rest of the episode . . . surprisingly this makes the Johnny Test character more interesting and endearing now that the title character is a (rather ineffectual) villain and his dog sidekick, who is one of the few likable characters in the show, is now Larry, who I enjoyed in Penn Zero.

[up]That has to be one of the strangest cross overs I've ever read.

Fund it.

Only one of those I haven't seen is Penn Zero. It's official, I must watch it.

Oh god I would love to see that though ;~; Twenty-year-anniversary special for Gravity Falls?

Of the two of them I think I prefer Star Vs. The Forces of Evil. SU has a better Myth Arc so far, but I also find the individual episodes a lot less entertaining. SU at its best probably beats Star at its best, but I find Star a lot more consistently entertaining, whereas with SU I feel like a lot of the episodes are kinda "meh" with the occasional flash of brilliance when the Myth Arc kicks in. Granted, it's mostly a matter of taste because Star skews a lot closer to my personal sense of humor than SU does.

And of course I think both of them are still kinda blown out of the water by stuff like Gravity Falls (in terms of Myth Arc) and MLP (in terms of character exploration), but I think that has more to do that those are both half-hour shows that have more time to develop the conflict of each episode.

If I had to re-evaluate my opinions, Steven Universe wins by a mile for me, especially thanks to Season 2 of said show. Kinda the same boat as Gravity Falls - neither show started out particularly strong, but they got better as they progressed.

As for Star Vs., I'd still rather watch Penn Zero Part Time Hero anyday - especially in terms of re-watchability, which Star Vs. STILL has very little of for me, outside of maybe anything actually trying to tell a story. If it's anywhere the school setting - I ain't interested. AT ALL.

If I had to choose, SU. I love em both, but Steven Universe just feels better then Star some times. Some episodes of Star are just kind of a bore to sit through.

Though that may change when Season 2 of Star Vs. rolls around.

I like both of their animation/art style even if looks alike, but I prefer Steven Universe. Star is slightly funnier though.

I like both a lot to the point where comparing them seems like a really moot point.

I kinda dislike this weird stagima that Star gets; I remember back when Star was being teased on Tumblr before it aired and pretty much everyone believed it'd be on a similar level of Gravity Falls or Steven Universe....that it being a story-driven cute-looking show with a overarcing Myth Arc.

And to be honest....I'm glad Star doesn't have that right now. I mean, it probably will and I'd totally be cool with it, but I'm happy with my initial expectations changed.

It's much more wacky and nonsense and the animation is much more expressionive and imaginative and the plot is more episodic and laid-back (even if it has small bits and pieces of a possible bigger picture coming into play). I don't like some people dislike Star because it's not a story-driven series like GF or SU...

...which is why comparing it to SU seems kinda dumb. Beyond the fact they have similar motifs (magical girl/anime influences) and female creators, they're not the same. SU's more emotional and serious with fewer comedic elements (It can be funny, but it's not really consistantly funny) where as Star is clearly more goofy and funny but not dramatic or hinging on a defined storyline.

They're just two different entities.

[up]Agreed.

If I had to choose a comparison, Star vs reminds more of Wander over yonder.

[up][up]That sums it up pretty much. I feel like a lot of complaints about Star are less about issues the show has and more about what kind of show it is. I mean, there are certainly valid criticisms to make, but I can't count "doesn't have a strong Myth Arc" against the show when it doesn't feel like it's really trying to have one in the first place. I'm honestly surprised that it has as much of one as it does. I personally think it's kinda refreshing to have a show that's more about being fun than trying to build drama. There's a place for those kinds of things.
