Why separate just those four and not the other Metroid Prime games, like Hunters and Federation Force?

Because that just belabors the point. [lol] If you take out all the 3D/Prime games, Metroid's sitting around 13.5M or thereabouts, with Dread and Super selling the best.

Yeah, but why divide the franchise at all? It's like separating Mario into Super Mario, Mario Kart, and Mario Party, except Metroid and Metroid Prime are more like each other than Super Mario is to Mario Kart.

And considering they announced Metroid Prime 4 at the same time as Metroid 2 Remake, then re-announced that Metroid Prime 4 was still in development at the same time as Dread, I don't think Nintendo are keeping them separate.

Meh, counting sales figures of rereleases always skews things, especially in cases when ports of remakes alter drastically the contents of the original version. Advance 4 is almost unrecognizable from the original Mario 3, as it washes out too much the graphics of the All-Stars version and butchers the soundtrack, and many of the added levels via e-Reader have unintuitive designs that clash against those of the original 90 levels.

That said, I also disagree with separating the Prime games from the rest of the Metroid series. If you have to discount almost half a franchise to say that RFA outsold it, then it didn't really outsell it and/or there isn't much merit about RFA's commercial success to begin with.

Quality of a game doesn't have anything to do with sales. So even if Super Mario Advance 4 is considered a poor version of Super Mario. Bros 3 (if, I have no horse in this race, haven't played it), its sales are still part of Mario series sales.

As someone who grew up playing the GBA ports of Mario 3, World, and Yoshi's Island, I never noticed anything wrong with the graphics at the time. Then again I didn't even know these games were ports, they were just...Mario games to me.

Okay, I was gonna let the typo go when it was just in one thread, but now you've posted it in two with the same typo. Is Kirby going on a Rainbow Cruise now?

Honestly, that game is only on my notice radar BECAUSE it's brought up almost every time there's some Direct. Having a delay but promising a release window only to badly miss that is not helping its reception. I think it will still do well whenever it releases, but it's building fan expectations more and more to levels it will not realistically reach.

Just watched the direct.

Pretty good selection of games shown off. Top three are Anton Blast, Yars Rising, and TMNT Splintered Fate.

Help me. I can't get it out of my head.

Someone said that Kirby games are usually a sign of a console ending (note that many consoles had a Kirby game released at or near the end of their lifespan), so if Rainbow Curse is true than it could be part of the trend. The 3ds ended with a remake of a Kirby game too. (Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn)

Too bad there's no news of first party games. Just the remakes of Dark Moon and TTYD. The Switch might be the first console not to have its own Donkey Kong game that isn't a remake. (can someone check that?)

Also, the typo was just me cutting and pasting the sentence without noticing it.

The ones that stuck out to me are Yars Rising, Europa, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate and Antonblast.

When I saw Antonblast, I immediately thought, "Looks like someone discovered Pizza Tower wasn't coming to consoles and decided to make their own ripoff!" Whether or not that's the case, hey, I'll take it. I think it looks fun. I plan to not play the demo, though, but instead wait for the full game.

I love the fact that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate lets players join and leave at will. It looks like a standard roguelike but wrapped around a license, with Drop-In-Drop-Out Multiplayer.

Yars Rising I don't have enough to go by yet, but it looks decent for now, I think.

Europa kinda makes me think of The Pathless but cuter. I'll be keeping an eye on it.

I'm not sure about Little Kitty, Big City. It looks like it might be a "do chores" type game, one of those games where you have to do lots of things, rather than simply can do them freely, which is what I prefer. But I dunno. I'll see when it comes out. I wishlisted it last year to keep an eye on it in case it turned out to be something I'd like.

Antonblast has been in development for a while now, since... 2021 apparently, with the crowdfunding for it kicking off in 2022. Pizza Tower would've had a slight headstart on it, but they're both wearing their Wario Land influence on their sleeves.

It probably goes without saying that the two have Friendly Fandoms due to the shared inspiration, to where there's a lot of fanart shipping Peppino and Anton together.[lol]

ANTONBLAST actually isn't the first, there is Antonball Deluxe, on both PC & Switch, along with some black & white classic games of Antonball and Punchball Antonball only for PC.

Antonball's a brickbreaker game with the controls of Mario Bros.

Punchball Antonball takes after that lesser known "Punch Ball" version of Mario Bros, where you have to hit enemies with a holdable ball to flip them over so you can knock them out.

Antonball Deluxe takes those two games, updates the graphics to take after the GBA port of Mario Bros, and adds a whole bunch of stuff, like more playable characters, multiplayer co-op for both Antonball and Punchball, and a multiplayer versus version of Antonball, dubbed "Vs. Antonball".

Very interesting!! So there's a lot going on here. I figured there was a chance that Pizza Tower and Antonblast both took inspiration from Wario Land 4 but not that Anton was a series!
