Question About "Skippable Boss"

I was reading over the Skippable Boss trope and a few of its entries listing optional bosses as examples, but would an optional boss count as "Skippable"?

My understanding of the trope is that it's a boss that you would be required to fight under normal circumstances, but either by glitch or design there's a way to either avoid that battle or put it off until later. In fact, re-reading the description we have the line:

"The inverse is a Bonus Boss; the difference is that the Skippable Boss is fought by default, while the Bonus Boss is skipped by default instead."

I was thinking of clearing out some of the "optional battle" entries for this reason, but thought I'd double-check I have the right idea first.

From what I understand of it, it has to be a boss you must encounter or deal with somehow, even if indirectly. As in, a boss right on the path of the normal progression of the game. I don't a boss on a different route would count either, depending on what type of routes there are. And I'm not sure about a boss you can basically just walk around or run past.

A Bonus Boss is one you have to go look for, continue after the final boss, or replay the game.

They sound like they're mutually exclusive. So yes, you can probably clean those out.

At the very least, I'll clear out any entries that state specifically that a boss is optional. Maybe alphabetize them a bit too since it's all video game entries anyway.
