I'm noticing two types of misuse that are pretty prevalent with this. The first is the Exactly What It Says on the Tin misconception of "any feature intended to reduce frustration", rather than specifically instances where the game suspends its usual rules in a particular case to avoid frustration in that situation (a good example of the intended use being the two instances of switching the portals around near the end of Portal 2). The second is a bit more specifically cases where, in a series of games, a later game modifies a game mechanic from previous entries in the series to be less frustrating. Which sometimes results in the example not even fitting the title, as it implies that removal of a feature can also count. And of course such examples don't alleviate the frustration for people who go back to the older games, or for people who never played the older games and thus don't know what was so frustrating earlier.

What should be done about this?

<Sigh> With a trope with over 600 wicks, we need more that a mere assertion of misuse to justify a thread.
