Date formats in watchlist?

Is there a way for a user to change the date format for the watchlist from dd/mm/yyyy to mm/dd/yyyy, or at least to have it spell out the month (or, as in this forum, the first three letters thereof) rather than use the numerical version? I'm not used to reading dates in the European numerical format, and the format used in the watchlist keeps throwing me. (dd Mon yyyy, as with the forum date stamps, would still be an improvement, as I'd be able to tell the day and month apart at a glance.)

I have looked elsewhere on the site for answers, but can't seem to find any. There doesn't seem to be an option in my profiles either.

We'd probably need the different areas of the wiki to use the same timestamp before we had an option to change it
