Looks like the guy who took the shot wanted to see if people would react.
Guess it worked. In a bad way.
I would argue that stupidity is a greater cause, even a paranoid bigot need not be that stupid. But yes I shall join you in laughing at them.
"Sandwiches are probably easier to fix than the actual problems" -HylarnParanoia in sufficient amounts can overcome reason and thus induce stupidity, you know.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Sure, but I still think that paranoid bigotry just isn't enough on its own to cause something like this to happen. I think great stupidity is the most likeliest cause.
"Sandwiches are probably easier to fix than the actual problems" -HylarnThere's been a spree of paranoid bigots who escalate from freaking out over pictures like that to homicide

"Sandwiches are probably easier to fix than the actual problems" -HylarnOkay, are you seriously equivocating "banning hate speech" with "state genocide"?

Disgusted, but not surprisedThis guy didn't get charged for saying nasty shit. He was charged because he encouraged others to harass and illegally record and upload, probably heavily edited, (you need consent to film someone in a private property in Canada) footage of an identifiable group.
As said information would then be doctored to spread more hate, he got hit with charges.

Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.Given that Islam is a religion that isn't restricted by ethnic group, I'm going to suppose whoever that was means someone of Arabic descent.
Which is still really stupid.
I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiotDoes the Umma not count as an ethnic group? Probably not, but still interesting to discuss
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.note Herotodus counted as ethne those of:
- shared descent (ὅμαιμον - homaimon, "of the same blood"),
- shared language (ὁμόγλωσσον - homoglōsson, "speaking the same language")
- shared sanctuaries and sacrifices (Greek: θεῶν ἱδρύματά τε κοινὰ καὶ θυσίαι - theōn hidrumata te koina kai thusiai)
- shared customs (Greek: ἤθεα ὁμότροπα - ēthea homotropa, "customs of like fashion").

An explosive device detonated outside a Minnesota mosque. Building sustained some damage, but as of yet there are no reports of injuries thankfully.
Prime Minister LHL's thoughts on Islamophobia after two AETOS guards were arrested for radicalizing themselves and supporting ISIL.
How do you get radicalised in Singapore even? I thought that all the mosques and Islamic institutions there are government-administered.
Echoing hymn of my fellow passerine | Art blog (under construction)The recent ones are done by themselves, most of them online or with the past case of Bangladeshi expats, by meeting with others secretly who share the same views. The news made it clear about this. There's also a guy doing his service who got busted by M Ps when they got intel that he was reading Islamist propaganda.
The imams working in Singapore (at least the ones born there) fully back the government, so they help out in deradicalizing programs.

Yeah, the internet is being used as a recruiting tool.
I think there’s a global conspiracy to see who can get the most clicks on the worst liesA Ms. Hansen was being ridiculed by M Ps in Australia for her one stunt.
She wore a black burqa.
How terrible of her.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Some additional info concerning that incident:
Pauline Hanson wears burqa in Australian Senate while calling for ban
Pauline Hanson caused a commotion by arriving at the Senate chamber for the daily question time session dressed in a black burqa, which was designed to underscore a call she intended to make to ban the religious garment, citing national security concerns.
But Hanson was rebuked sharply for her behaviour.
The leader of the government in the Senate, the attorney general George Brandis, told the One Nation leader the ruling Coalition had no intention of banning the burqa.
In remarks that secured him a standing ovation from the opposition Labor party, and the Greens party, as well as other crossbench senators, Brandis warned Hanson against indulging in behaviour that Muslim Australians would find offensive.
“Senator Hanson, no, we will not be banning the burqa,” Brandis told the Senate on Thursday. “Senator Hanson, I’m not going to pretend to ignore the stunt that you have tried to pull today by arriving in the chamber dressed in a burqa when we all know you are not an adherent of the Islamic faith.
She's the leader of an Islamophobic party who wants, among other things, to have Australia adopt a Muslim ban of their own.
She was ridiculed by M Ps who were not happy with the sheer disrespect she was showing Muslims.

Disgusted, but not surprised
I...I can't even...
