n both crime and law, hate crime (also known as bias-motivated crime) is a usually violent, prejudice motivated crime that occurs when a perpetrator targets a victim because of his or her perceived membership in a certain social group. Examples of such groups include but are not limited to: ethnicity, gender identity, language, nationality, physical appearance, religion, or sexual orientation.[1][2] Incidents may involve physical assault, damage to property, bullying, harassment, verbal abuse or insults, or offensive graffiti or letters (hate mail).

This thread will discuss news and isolated events, but also trends and events in aggregate. Expect lots of press article links... and lots of references to statistical studies. Cuz here at TVT we've got standards.

We start with a false alert: what seemed like an anti-semitic profanation turns out to have been the act of thrill-seeking teenagers with no ideological motivation whatsoever. Panic in the face of anti-semitic activity is mitigated when statistics are released by the Ministry of Interior showing the number of cemetery profanations in 2014 by confession.◊

I'm opening this thread but there's a fairly good chance it'll turn into Opression Olympics if we're not careful. Let's make sure our posts here have more substance than just a link to something appalling and a comment along the lines of "look at this appalling thing".
