20th. Of. October???
UGH.
"By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion."I think our general consensus was that if there was a second season, it should be more of a Final Fantasy type sequel, with a different storyline unrelated to the storyline of the first season. A Spiritual Successor of sorts—a sequel that shares themes and probably mechanics, but not plot or, necessarily, characters.
DONTNOD has expressed interest in doing a second season, but not as a direct successor. They suggested that, if it were to be their choice, it would be a new setting and new characters. This is mostly because Chloe and Max's story was cocieved as a single season so there aren't many places to take the story next.
That's what I'd want, if they absolutely must make a sequel, when I feel this way about a game. Have it set in the same world and/or be similiar thematically, but don't revisit the same characters.
Just so everyone knows, the 20th of October isn't the definite date. They're still not fully done with the game. They really only said the 20th since it was "in spirit of Max's birthday". So for all we know we could be seeing the finale come out later.
My Tumblr "If theirs one thing I'm good at, it's blowing" Jesse Cox 2013I would imagine that, if they gave us a date, its their closest estimate. If not the 20th, its more likely to be released later rather than sooner.
It did say in my post and in the link that the 20th is what they are 'aiming for', not that it was a definite release date.
Actually now that I'm over the
unbearable shock and agony of disappointment
as far as I'm concerned they can take as long as they want. Ubisoft pretty much permanently soured me on wanting games to come out sooner rather than later, because when game makers rush games, you get shit like Assassin's Creed Unity.
Please, DONTNOD, take as long as you need.
I know. I was just clarifying that we're unlikely to see it sooner than the 20th.
Not soon enough. I'm ready. I'm not ready. I'm afraid it will make me cry. I kinda want it to make me cry.
I bought 7 other games last week during a PSN sale. I can keep myself busy.
It's the last episode.
I'll be pissed if it doesn't make me cry at least twice, ideally thrice or more.
I just ordered the Borderlands Handsome Jack Collection for Xbox One (I'm working through a second playthrough of Borderlands 2 with beau and we intend to max out our characters' levels, and I haven't even played the Pre Sequel yet), which should arrive in another week or so; also pre-ordered Assassin's Creed Syndicate, which will arrive on its release date of 23 (I think) October.
So I'm not exactly hurting for games to play
But
I'm hurting for this game to play

I have plenty of stuff to do as well. The list of indie games on Steam I want to play built up to the point where I finally signed up, so I've got Sunless Sea, and of course there's always the gear grind in FFXIV.
I sorta want to replay Life Is Strange in anticipation of the final episode, but no, because that will lead to me making different decisions (intentionally or otherwise), and I want to live with the decisions that have been made so far.

I want to replay Life is Strange for the photos I missed in each episode soon.

I'm going to be doing this as soon as I finish the last episode. Starting with Episode 2 or 3 (not sure) I used a guide to get each photo on my first run through, but there are at least one or two episodes at the beginning where I'm missing some.
Oh yeah, I want to get all of those too. The sketches in place of the ones you don't have are clues to their locations. There was one in the junkyard where I could see the thing I was meant to photograph, but for whatever reason couldn't find the right angle or spot to take it from, the prompt never came up.
And to backtrack a few posts, I am generally not an emotional person, so if this game makes me cry, it will be a Big Deal. The fact that it's made me feel anything at all is impressive. I haven't been so emotionally invested in a game, or maybe even anything at all, since The Last Of Us.
The clues are very helpful, and 90% of the time they're all you really need, but there are a few where you have to do some surprisingly elaborate setup before you can snap it. Like the squirrels near the dorm rooms (I can think of two separate occasions where you have to walk up to the squirrel, scare it off, then rewind to bring it back and take a picture of it.)

Episode 5 release date announced: 20 October.
Apparently.
So next Tuesday? Probably?
Seems that way. It's on Wikipedia. I'm guessing it was put out via Twitter but I can't go on Twitter from work so I can't see it for sure. A quick Google search would probably illuminate that.
No trailer? :(
I think they've been posting trailers along with a countdown on Facebook. I haven't been watching them though, because I don't want even the slightest spoilers.
Once again, it's going to be a few days before I have a chance to sit down and play the episode in one go, so I'll be avoiding this thread from the 20th until the 23rd :P
There was some speculation about it earlier in the thread, but I don't believe DONTNOD have given out any official word.
For me though, this is one of those games where even though I love it, in fact because I love it, I don't think there needs to be another. Let it stand on its own, let's not have any probably inferior sequels messing things up.
Having said that, I guess it depends on how everything ends. I personally hope things are all wrapped up and done, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was a sequel hook.
