Hi everyone

I'm trying to find a short story that I heard about on this site on a page about imaginary friends. Here is the page:

https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ImaginaryFriend

The story I'm trying to find is listed in the literature section of the article. Here is what the paragraph says:

'In the short story "Faithless Margaret", an old woman has an imaginary companion by that name who takes bus rides with her. Then the pair meet an old man who has an imaginary companion named Arthur. In the final scene the old man and woman ride the bus sullenly apart, angry and bereft — Margaret and Arthur apparently hit it off and now ride the bus together, abandoning their respective people.' I can't find this story anywhere on the internet. I wondered if anyone might be able to help me on here since this is where I heard about it.

Many thanks for reading this. I also posted in the literature forum but I thought someone in this forum might also be able to help if they might know who wrote the page. Sorry if I've posted in the wrong places, I'm not used to forums yet.

I stretched my google fu a bit and came up with something. Just by the title, I can't find the text for it anywhere.

Cassell's Family Magazine had a short story called ‘Faithless Margaret: A Christmas Story.’ By Frank Barrett in an issue published in 1880.

Hi Daefaroth

~Ledwidgem: As it happens, we have a discussion page specifically for identifying works that you can't find: You Know That Show. You may want to try there.
