Nothing in particular against their pick just for difficulty's sake... but I would've taken most of these on-disc over Toys in the Attic.

I love Toys in the Attic, but I'm also fine with the DLC in that pack. I don't think any of them, except maybe a few, would have made for a good replacement.

Three new DLC tracks will be out on November 4:

  • The Hollies - "Long Cool Woman (In A Black Dress)"
  • Iggy Pop - "Lust for Life"
  • Robert Palmer - "Bad Case of Loving You (Doctor, Doctor)"

Glad to see more Audioslave in the game, but honestly I would've preferred something with a bit more interesting instrumentation. "Your Time Has Come", "Cochise", even "Be Yourself".

Not too interested about the others.

HMX also released a promotional Free DLC song out of the blue. Something called "Bad Catholics" by The Barbazons. Never heard of them, judging by the video the song kinda sounds like poor man's "Violent Shiver". But the instrumental parts look fun enough, and it's free, so I'm not gonna complain.

This week's DLC: Rock Band goes mainstream.

  • Ed Sheeran: "Sing"
  • Walk the Moon: "Shut Up and Dance"
  • Vance Joy: "Riptide"

I must say... these choices are great. Definitely getting "Shut Up and Dance", possibly the others as well. Though I have a feeling that the "WE NEED MOAR METAL" crowd won't be too thrilled by this.

Also, there's a curious deal in play here: by buying "Sing" you will also receive "Young Blood" by Saint Raymond for completely free. The songs are only available together as a bundle, which sucks, but then again, you are only paying for one of them either way.

New DLC this week, this time featuring none other than Van Halen:

Includes:

  • Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love
  • Runnin’ With The Devil
  • Hot For Teacher
  • Dance The Night Away
  • And The Cradle Will Rock…
  • Unchained

All songs that already appeared in the Guitar Hero Van Halen game, but whatever.

Hot For Teacher was IMO the hardest song in Guitar Hero: World Tour, I bet it will be even tougher on the slightly stricter Rock Band engine.

New RB DLC this week, this time focused on prog metal songs:

Includes:

  • Between the Buried and Me - “The Coma Machine”
  • Opeth – “Heir Apparent”
  • Symphony X – “Nevermore”

Also, a couple days ago they had a trailer for the new Brutal Mode, which is coming in the next patch. It's basically a form of Hidden Mode found in older Dance Dance Revolution and Stepmania titles. As usual, a lot of people don't like that because they feel it shouldn't be prioritized over more important features like practice mode, setlists, and online band quickplay, but personally I think it's alright, even if I also agree that at least one or two of those features should have been prioritized.

Also also, last week's DLC was the following:

  • Beck – “Dreams”
  • BØRNS – “Electric Love”
  • Catfish And The Bottlemen – “Cocoon”
  • Cold War Kids – “First”
  • X Ambassadors – “Renegades”

So basically, the songs that come with every purchase of an RB 4 Strat that was leaked earlier.

I feel like I'm gonna get the majority of the DLC of the last two weeks. I don't mind brutal mode, but yeah, those features probably should've been prioritized.

Also, Rock Band 3 setlist can now apparently be exported to RB 4! Something that hasn't been curiously elaborated further.

Yeah put me in the crowd that's pissed at HMX thinking they know what we want when they're continuing to eschew such essential, second-nature features like online multiplayer or practice mode in favor of new additions that are really just freakishly misguided attempts to cater to more than just clueless casuals who never play difficulties higher than Medium (the type of people I am convinced HMX themselves are).

This week's DLC: Off The Charts 02. The songs included:

  • Elle King - Ex's and Oh's
  • Fall Out Boy - Irresistible
  • Shawn Mendes - Stitches
  • Walk The Moon - Different Colors
  • The Weeknd - Can't Feel My Face

"Can't Feel My Face", "Different Colors" and "Ex's and Oh's" I could consider. "Stitches" I can't stand. "Irresistible" looks a bit dull to play and is a weird choice since both "Uma Thurman" and "My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark" would be better in terms of instrumental parts.

I know that "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark" is one of Guitar Hero Live's flagship songs, so there might be some legal tangles on that one, at least.

This week's DLC: eight tracks from U2. This includes:

  • “California (There Is No End To Love)” - 2014
  • “Desire” - 1988
  • “One” - 1992
  • “Pride (In The Name Of Love)” - 1984
  • “Sunday Bloody Sunday” - 1983
  • “The Miracle (Of Joey Ramone)” - 2014
  • “Vertigo” - 2004
  • “Where The Streets Have No Name” - 1987

Also, someone at DLC Quickplay decided to have some fun with the Genre classifications of the pack.

I will probably grab the two last ones; overall U2 holds no interest for me.

By the way, does anyone know where the legayc DLC and disc exports are going at the moment? In know Rock Band 3 should be exportable everywhere at the moment, but is it working everywhere? What about the others? I'm kinda lost on that. The only thing HMX has given us so far is this, and that hasn't been updated since its release in October.

What better way to end a DLC year than opening a whole can of worms? This week's DLC:

  • Coldplay “Adventure of a Lifetime”
  • Ellie Goulding “On My Mind”
  • Justin Bieber “What Do You Mean?”
  • One Direction “Drag Me Down”
  • Sam Hunt “Leave The Night On”
  • Weezer “Thank God for Girls”

Yeah, can't wait to read the comments for this one.

I'm not one to do the usual "This is shit, I thought this was 'Rock Band' not 'Pop Band', we need MOAR METAL" shtick, but this week is a clusterfuck. I totally understand Weezer, Sam Hunt and even One Direction (say nothing of their music, they still play with an instrument setup that fits the one in RB). Hell, "Adventure of A Lifetime" looks like the first Coldplay song that will be actually fun to play. But Ellie Goulding and Justin Bieber are pretty weird choices for the Keyboard-less Rock Band 4. For the first time in a long while, the 'Pop Band' complaints is legit. At least "Can't Feel My Face" had an actual guitar part. I mean, Goulding has had tracks with actual guitars in them, but obviously they went with the biggest current hit. Bieber will probably be the most hated-on DLC since the infamous Nickelback-Miley Cyrus double header - and at least those had the instrument justification.

[up]Naw man, it may be NAMED "Rock Band" but what HMX is actually implying is "Herman Li Band" so shame on them for not including every DragonForce song

An actually good, well-rounded set of songs that many people have been wanting to be in these games for years...but why oh why did it have to be this game?
