I'm surprised there's not a lot more love for Toys in the Attic. I thought it's an amazing song and one of the most fun tracks to play on Guitar Hero Aerosmith.
I'm also pretty hyped for the Dream Theater track Metropolis Part 1, which incidentally is (or maybe was) also available as a Rock Band 3 custom along with the rest of Images and Words, complete with keyboard support and multitracks.

Apparently embedding still isn't working.

Which is odd because older embeds are still there.
So...can someone more plugged into the community than me tell me if there's any hope whatsoever for the tracks from 1/2/Lego/3 being put on the store at some point? Because as someone who played on the Wii, and never got 3, it's really frustrating to be locked out of all those songs.
I've heard some mention of "legacy" DLC.
No idea what that entails. Hopefully it'll be a lot easier to get songs from the previous entries than in the past.
Anyone who assigns themselves loads of character tropes is someone to be worried about.I ask because "Everlong" is my favourite song, and it would really suck if I had to drop $300 dollars on the game (not counting a second guitar) and not have any access to it just because I didn't own a PS 3 in 2008.
"The Legacy DLC" thus far has meant that all songs bought for previous console will translate to the respective new console of that family (ie. everything you got for Rock Band for PS 3 will be playable in RB 4 on PS 4). This also applies to exported on-disc songs from 1, 2, Lego etc., excluding the few songs that didn't export the first place, of course. The pre-existing DLC is still available to buy for Rock Band 4 on the new consoles.
However, I do not think that the individual songs from the previous games can be bought from the store. If you're interested in doing that, you'd probably better to give Harmonix feedback about that.
- "What's Up?" — 4 Non Blondes
- "Fever" — The Black Keys
- "Prayer" — Disturbed
- "Knock Em Down" — Duck & Cover
- "Albert" — Eddie Japan
- "Centuries" — Fall Out Boy
- "I Miss the Misery" — Halestorm
- "Kick It Out" — Heart
- "I Am Electric" — Heaven's Basement
- "Dream Genie" — Lightning Bolt
- "Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo" — Rick Derringer
- "A Passage to Bangkok" — Rush
- "No One Like You" — Scorpions
- "Light the Fuse" — Slydigs
- "Dead Black (Heart of Ice)" — Soul Remnants
- "Spiders" — System of a Down
- "At Night in Dreams" — White Denim
I need to give them a listen later. I don't actually know any of them.
Been wanting "What's Up" for ages.
And Disturbed's fans have been wanting something from the Believe album for years. I can safely say they picked that album's biggest hit and most obvious choice.
If it'd been up to me I'd have gone with "Love Bites (And So Do I)" for the Halestorm pick, but I suppose that song is getting overused anyway (I already have BandFuse, for one thing).
I'd have prefered "Headlong Flight" for any Rush picks. Or even "Anthem," "Time Stands Still," "Freewill," "In The Mood" or "Far Cry." Overall kind of a WTH Song selection.
Not my first pick for SOAD either, but I can understand why they wouldn't pick "Suite-Pee" or "Sugar" from the same album.
I'm glad they got a Rush song in there, though that's not the one I would have picked. But it's far from the worst they could have gone with. I think most of the best ones are already in Rock Band. I don't know any of the others.

I prefer La Villa Strangiato for the Rush pick. But that one's fine too.
I know about 6 or so of these songs, which is a good sign.
Eww Black Keys/Scorpions/new Fall Out Boy. But the rest I guess'll be alright.
On my wave, passing oooooooonWait, they got the Scorpions... and it's not "Rock You Like A Hurricane"?
Or is that the wrong Scorpions...
Anyone who assigns themselves loads of character tropes is someone to be worried about. These choices seem kinda... eh to me.
The Halestorm song is okay, and the Disturbed songs is something that was on my wishlist for GHIV back in '07. "Rock N Roll Hoochie Koo" I've been wishing for a long time, since I really like the song and it only appeared in 360 port of Guitar Hero II. "What's Up?" balances on a border between good and grating, maybe it'll grow on me during gameplay. Many of the artists I like and know have really weird song choices, like Rush, Heart and Scorpions.
Otherwise it's a bunch of songs from artists I've never heard of. Not that it's a necessarily a bad thing - many of the songs and artists in RB 3 that I didn't know beforehand (Hypernova, Dover, Big Country, The Bronx) ended becoming my favourites.

I feel like it's the same reason why I found the RB 3 default soundtrack somewhat disappointing: everything good that's out there is either already DLC, too new, or by a band that's stingy about giving up their song rights for one reason or another, such as Guns N Roses, Black Sabbath, or Muse.
Though why there isn't more of The Rolling Stones is beyond me.
Anyone who assigns themselves loads of character tropes is someone to be worried about.I believe that with Rolling Stones it's at least partially due to the lack of master tracks, especially with their older material. In GHIII "Paint It Black" wasn't playable in multiplayer since Neversoft wasn't able to separate the guitar tracks from each other.

I know plugging this sort of thing is probably not advised but holy fucking shit this actually happened
On my wave, passing oooooooonThat's an amazing achievement nonetheless. Young Man Blues (Live at Leeds) is a notoriously hard song due to its insanely fast drum rolls that have rarely been FC'd over the years, so to see it being FC'd in a full band environment is still amazing to observe.
BTW, why be worried about plugging this? Are you one of the people that participated in that video?

Even that doesn't really matter. People are constantly posting battle replays over in the Pokemon thread.
No, I wasn't in that. I just had to share it because up until Jarod (the guy on drums) started playing again recently and gained some sort of inhuman consistency on the song it was always seen as an FBFC that would be godly to witness but would never actually happen, especially not after Carson/iHomer x360 stopped playing. Now it has and it just might be the best FBFC ever.
On my wave, passing oooooooonDid you hear? Van Halen is coming to Rock Band 4, starting with "Panama" on the disc and continuing with some DLC afterwards.
Yay one less reason to go back to GH: Van Halen.
On my wave, passing oooooooonNot yet mentioned here, but people who preorder RB 4 for PS 4 will get their hands on 10 exclusive songs:
- All That Remains – “Divide”
- Blitz Kids – “Run For Cover”
- Bring Me The Horizon – “Throne”
- Dead Sara – “Mona Lisa”
- Duran Duran – “The Reflex”
- Janis Joplin – “Move Over”
- Of Mice & Men – “Would You Still Be There”
- Oh Honey – “Sugar You”
- Pantera – “Cowboys From Hell (Live from Monsters in Moscow Festival)”
- Seastick Steve – “Summertime Boy”
Surprising emphasis on modern Kerrang!-metal. I really like the two songs that I knew beforehand though; "Throne" and "Cowboys From Hell" are the songs from their respective artists I wanted to see in the game. "Would You Still Be Here" will be one of those songs that'll end up horribly butchered due to having swearing on the chorus. "Sugar You" is a ridiculously cute duet which might be fun to sing with a friend. Janis Joplin is a nice choice to bring a little balance.

I'm okay with the Paramore pick simply on the grounds that it's NOT Ain't it Fun. Toys in the Attic is pretty cool too I suppose.
Haven't heard the rest.
