TV Tropes needs an urgent revamp

Although I have just created an account, I have been editing every now and so for years and I believe there are certain things that the site needs in order to not become a place of personal and incorrect data.

One of those are the ever increasing inclusion of tropes that belong in abridged series of xxxxx show.

Abridged series aren\'t officially backed by anyone, nor are they meant to be taken seriously. The tropes are getting way out of hand when it comes to this subject and I believe the moderators would do great by banning the sourcing of any fictional or nonfictional work that isn\'t commercially backed.

Otherwise, any wisecrack will start doing 5-6 minute videos of completely fanbase work and start making tropes about it (as well as overflooding the existing tropes with useless series for the purpose of spreading it about).

The second thing I see as well is authenticity.

Tropes should be following any series or movies faithfully to the letter, otherwise we get a worse case scenario than the above: people using the wrong information for the wrong trope.

It gets especially obvious when it comes to foreign fiction. Tropes should be loyal to the original work, no matter what licenses are held in the United States or elsewhere.

What do the mods think of this?

I haven't the foggiest idea what you are talking about.

Also, by coming on board and posting a topic with an implicit demand for change plus a title designed to incite responses, you have marked yourself firmly in the troll category.

Try again once you've been around a while. Locking.

Edit: 785 days old = new account now? Pull the other one.

In addition, we are not going to stop troping works of any kind, original or fan-derived; see There Is No Such Thing as Notability.

Nor does it constitute a problem if we trope a lot of stuff, including abridged derivatives of other works that aren't meant to be taken seriously; they still contain tropes.
