One of the few ecchi series where the protag actually has a spine and did and will do more with his girls than hold hands. It's a shame that this series like most light novel adaptations will only cover the first few volumes.
" Magic is a method of talking to the universe in words that it cannot ignore."It's written by the author of Hagure Yuusha no Aesthetica, so, yay for a second hero who doesn't panic at the sight of skin.
Still finishing: a whole lot of shows from Fall 2013 and Winter 2014.The ecchi in this series really makes me uncomfortable because of the whole "you got to make her submit" stuff. Really could use less of that.
Next episode should pick up the action and drama which are the series strong points.
Well, it was a slave-master contract cooked up by a succubus. That wasn't going to end great no matter what.
In my case, the show's main hook is the feeling that the author actually put some thought in the story. Prime example is the aforementioned contract. Your typical ecchi anime will do it only to tickle some fetishes; meanwhile Shinmai Maou no Testament puts forth practical reasons for initiating the contract— it serves as better-than-GPS. Plus the succubus wanted insurance just in case the lead actually was intending to betray them though she botched that.
If only the Succubus didn't look so "young" she'd be best girl.
" Magic is a method of talking to the universe in words that it cannot ignore."The main guy is heaps generic, but somehow it feels like the plot exists for more than just excuses for ecchi.
Other than that, one cliche toilet misunderstanding, one logical clash of characters based on their own morals and what they are and aren't willing to do.
That being said, there's not much to recommend it unless you actually like the ecchi.
"Nullius addictus iurare in verba magistri, quo me cumque rapit tempestas, deferor hospes."This anime was terrible and I had to drop it after the second episode.
Things like this are why I stay away from ecchi anime. The second episode had rape. She said no, and he kept pushing himself on her. It was horrifying.
I feel like Shigesato Itoi when I see things like this. It's as disturbing as Giygas. It's more disturbing than Giygas. Sexualizing violence against women is the embodiment of evil.
I love anime, so I wish they would stop portraying rape like this.
Why were you born in such a cruel, violent world?Don't be silly, when girl says "no" it just means you have to try harder!
Jokes aside, all this ecchi is really just suffocating this series, it draws attention from the story, it stiffens the flow of plot because we spend 1/3 of each episode on it and it is just completely unnecessary. You could edit it out completely and get much better experience.

I think at this point it's impossible to expect the ecchi to go below a certain point. That being said, episode 3 seemed to have less than the previous ones.
Still finishing: a whole lot of shows from Fall 2013 and Winter 2014.Less ecchi? Uhhh...
What a shame that the show is as ecchi as it is 'cos the storytelling is actually rather decent.
Episode 6: Yes, shove the blame on the kid who erased the corpses and not the dude who made those corpses in the first place. Screw that contrived grudge.
More ecchi time, yawn. As usual, manga handles the story better.
Funny how you mention that when the show is apparently ahead of the manga at this point.
"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyThe anime hasn't caught up yet to the scanlated chapters, though it's already close.
Isn't it past the scanlated chapters now? All the places I've seen chapters of the manga they haven't even finished the fight that got done in last week's episode.
Dost Thou Desire the Power ... Glove? It's so bad.Yup, episode 7 blew past the scanlated chapters.
Just posting to let everyone know the OVA is out and subbed.
And uncensored.
They should have just made this straight up porn. OVA is ridiculousness.
Bumping this to say the first episode of the second season is now airing.
Every time I think this show can't find another stunt to pull
What can I say? I like this series and the adaptation seems pretty solid so far but it\'s not for everyone. Some once described is as \"Siscon urban fantasy\" series and I can\'t say it\'s not true. This series takes fanservice probably as far as it can without just becoming a straight up hentai, which is a shame because what is underneath that is pretty good.
