A little, but the world doesn't usually revolve around just one sport lol
I mean it's not a problem for me or anything, but still, I bet you wouldn't have imagined the entire world was gonna revolve around card games when you were watching DM were you?

Arc-V actually takes the who idea of the world revolving around the cards to the logical conclusion as they get more advanced in terms of holographic technology. Full scale war, of course.
Watch SymphogearCards are definitely easier to carry and hide than guns.
The Protomen enhanced my life.I wonder if Pegasus has ever been sued for trading card-related wrongful death?
Can you hold people responsible for stuff like that if they just created the game? The card game itself isn't inherently dangerous unless you're dealing with the god cards or something.
Kaiba was never sued for Death-T or Battle City, so i doubt Pegasus was.
The Protomen enhanced my life. The flashbacks in Battle City make it pretty darn clear that Pegasus had ample warning his trading cards were gonna turn into a global-scale Shadow Game and he carried on making them anyways purely for the fame and profit. I mean, he has a vision of the Egyptian Gods destroying stuff and Shadi flat-out tells him his cards are gonna risk annihilating mankind, and Pegasus is all, "Don't care, making them anyways."

I've got Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash, Spyro, and Paper Mario fanfics. If I remember right that was why he sealed the Egyptian Gods away. Since everyone that worked on them died he decided they were too dangerous to release and sealed them away until Marik and Ishizu stole them.
The Protomen enhanced my life.man if card games are being used for war kaiba must be rolling in his grave ;_;
you're huge! that means you have huge guts!Throughout all of the series, Duel Monsters cards can steal souls.
Shadow Games may take different forms, but they’ll still be around.
Poor Atem ;_;

I've got Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash, Spyro, and Paper Mario fanfics. From the multiple recaps I've read that Kotaku article is inaccurate about some things. They get Kaiba's role about right but seem to think the movie's based on the anime and not the manga (and the dubbed anime with mention of the Shadow Realm), and Yami Bakura is only seen posthumously; the evil in the Ring possesses people, not Yami Bakura.
As far as characters dealing with the fallout of the series, only Yugi and Kaiba are really affected, with Tea having gotten over her crush on the Pharaoh and Joey and Tristan doing nothing important. Aigami is up against Kaiba, not Yugi, for a lot of the movie, and most of what happens is Kaiba and Shadi's fault.
And they called Shadi "the Shadi."
Here are three recaps of the movie I found. Recap #3 is my favorite because it gave me the best sense of what was going ON. XD

The Protomen enhanced my life.Only the Shadow Realm stuff are exact inaccuracies. And they do seem aware that it was based on the manga.
Actually, Dark Bakura was never confirmed to have died at the end of the manga. In the anime, that was probably true, but Atem still takes the Ring from Bakura after the R.P.G. saying that it is still dangerous.
That's not contradicting the review. It says:
(It should be noted that Bakura’s backstory is noticeably retconned from the series itself, with the ring no longer being sold as a simple trinket from a street vendor. However, as this only adds depth to both the film and the series, I had no problems with it.)
Also, I'd like to point out that you are saying that people are angry over the Bakura retcon yet the only person other than you I've seen talk about it likes the change.
This person was really upset by it.
I'm less upset at the retcon itself being a thing and more upset that Ryou has no living family now.

The Protomen enhanced my life. The street vendor with the Ring and Seven Armed Fiend was itself a retcon; it's not present in the manga.
Do note how Bakura was rather young at the time, so might have not remembered it properly (thinking Shadi was a merchant). And we don't know if his father actually died. He might just be unconscious for all we know.
I dunno if I'd count that as a retcon per se since the manga and anime are different continuities, but the manga does say◊ that Ryou's father got it from an antique shop and gave it to him, and these◊ panels◊ from the Memory World establish that Yami Bakura uses Ryou and his father to get the RPG going.
I know Ryou first heard Yami Bakura talking to him the day he moved into Yugi's class, when he was about the same age as Yugi. He'd had Monster World games before then but it doesn't say how long ago. http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Ryo_Bakura_%28manga%29#Monster_World
And there's the whole Amane and Mrs. Bakura thing, where a guidebook clarified Amane was his younger sister who died with their mother in a car wreck. Ryou writers letters to them in Heaven, but we only see it for 2 panels before Yami Bakura takes over for the first time. if the 'camera' hadn't followed him home we'd have never known about them at all.
EDIT: DSOD Ryou's dad has white hair, is more robust than his blue-haired anime self, and also has quite a lot of facial hair. I also got confirmation that he was dying from the attack.

The Protomen enhanced my life.i personally dislike the retcon because it doesn't come across as 'let's enrich bakura's character!' its more like 'oh god we need to make aigami sympathetic somehow uhhh something something millennium ring!!'. i dislike that a character is having his backstory changed to accommodate some new guy. it'd be like making a villain and revealing that they're actually kaiba and mokuba's parents who didn't die, just went into hiding.

you're huge! that means you have huge guts! From the way things play out it seems like Ryou himself doesn't remember until Aigami forces him to, which gives him an awful headache, and when he does remember he's horrified and starts crying as he explains that Yami Bakura isn't the same as him.
Ryou needs hugs in any medium. I never thought getting screentime in the movie would make things worse for his situation.
Anime Ryou not getting involved in adventures makes more sense now; he probably didn't want anything worse happening to him.
"Hey Bakura do you wanna hang out?" "NO''
I like to think in season 4 he was out partying cause the Ring was gone. The dub had Joey mention him in season 4 but I don't know the context.

The Protomen enhanced my life.that doesn't explain why yami bakura thinks his dad owns the museum. you can't posthumously own an academic institution like a museum can you?
the dub did? any chance you remember the episode?
wait no that's probably what you meant by context lol disregard.

you're huge! that means you have huge guts!Like I said, we don't know that Bakura's dad is dead. He might just be unconscious.

I found some interesting posts about manga Ryou. Poor guy.
http://larry8d.tumblr.com/post/101038639791/you-once-asked-why-bakura-and-his-yami-dont-talk
The Protomen enhanced my life.
The other characters really do seem to treat him as basically the de facto President of Earth, though this may be only in the dub.
