The original Metroid I'd put in a list of favorite NES titles, but not a list of favorite/best Nintendo titles.
That said, the original is a good game, just not as good as some of the later Metroid games, or most of the games I have on VC.
Have you ever played Wario Land 4 and Kirby and the Amazing Mirror? I don't have them anymore, but I did on the 3DS Ambassador Program...before I lost my original 3DS two years ago (I had to get a replacement in August 2013...but then it got read errors up the ass, so for my birthday this year, I got a 2DS. I never used the 3D feature anyways)
EDIT: Actually, the one DS game I can vouch for is Mario Kart. That, and Star Fox Command.

i have played kirby and the amazing mirror but it's been several years and i only played a few hours. i remember it being to difficult to figure out where i was supposed to go, but that's about the extent of it.

I realized that I forgot about Xenoblade. I need to play that again this year.
The hard part about playing Wii Games is that I'm required to use the HDTV my Wii-U is connected to, and my parents like to watch live TV still. I can't use an actual Wii because I transferred all my data on one because my mom was using it for Netflix (aka: NOT its actual function), and my first Wii can't play discs...I keep it around for VC stuff.

I am planning on making a top 50 list of best Nintendo published games (meaning that they use a Nintendo licensed franchise, or are unrelated games published by Nintendo (like Eternal Darkness or Baiten Kaitos), so stuff like Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, Any Rareware game that isn't DKC or Star Fox Adventures, and third-party titles that are on Nintendo consoles would qualify for a different list.
