@OP: I'll add to the people saying "don't even sweat it". The race issue...it's a tempest in a teacup, its confined to Hollywood, and it mostly has to do with remakes, not new material. All the Marvel movies have long-standing fanbases who howl about most any change, including casting an actor of a different race than the character as originally drawn. Some of this is thinly disguised racism, some of it is just picky fanboy purism. Either way, not your problem.
Not only are most recent fans of comic books/graphic novels okay with minority protagonists they are crying out for more. Go for it and don't worry, I say. Just make sure your portrayal is non-stereotypical and well-balanced and you'll likely make more friends than enemies.
If I were to write some of the strange things that come under my eyes they would not be believed.
