Elder Tale -Alea Iacta Est-: Discussion

Claiming the first post as the reference sheet for our incarnation of Europe. For any native speakers of any of the languages I'm making a mess of for location names, please correct me.

— Hub Cities —

• Seven Hill (Rome)
• Stenopolis (Istanbul)
• Via de Fleur (Paris)
• Schwarzwolfbug (Berlin)
• Villa de Magerit (Madrid)

Major Geograpic Regions

• Saxe-Deustland, the in game name for the region of Greater Germany
  • The "Were-Forest": A forest covering large swaths of Souther Germany to the Alps. A high Level were-beast monsters roam the area; it's not new player friendly.
  • The Pom: a less densly forested region of Northern Germany along the baltic, reaching south rougly to Schwarzwolfburg.
• Romalia: The in-game name for the Italian Peninsula, with many independent city-states
• Gallia: The in game name for France, divided up into two Lander Kingdoms.
• Andalland: The analouge for the Iberian Peninsula. The Landers here are known for their relaxed culture and sponsoring many sports and other festivals that are popular among players who needed a break from adventuring. (Read, it was, by and large, the mini-game zone)
• (Placeholder for Greece and the Balkans, name suggestions welcome)

— Lander (NPC) Political Entities —

• Aquios - A kingdom in Southern France that is the peferct picture of a medieval court.
• Berre-Mortonge - The kingdom controlling northern France, a bit rougher around the edges, but otherwise similar to Aquios. The two are always competing for full control of Gallia. Berre-Mortonge also happens to have a female monarch at the moment, which is uncommon, but not unprecedented.
• Kingdom of the Pom - An elective monarchy comprised othe Landers of the Pom. The Landers here are generally tougher than those elswhere and have the ability to tame beast-class monsters.
• The Duchies of Argon, Boron, Alion, Saffron, Allegron, Lisbon - Duchies controlling Andalland.
• Alvian Dominion - A large entinty controling all of Greece and the balkans. An Empire full of court intrigue and deadly politics, but fairly stable for the common man, so long as you pay your dues to the nobility.

• Romalo-Deus Empire - A now defunct Empire nominally ruling over Saxe-Deustland and Romalia. In the patch before Homesteading the Noosphere, the most recent Emperor had died, and internal fighting and bickering led to the council of prince-electors never being able to gather a quroum in to elect the next Emperor.

Name Suggestion for Greece/Balkans: Hellenes

Moving on to prior character relations, I think all of our lvl90s should have at least heard of each other and due to what he does I'm pretty sure Emrys will have personally met all the 90's at least.

Well anybody want to go further into character relationships and such that exist prior to RP? I mean, the level 90s are probably well known but do the lower lvls want to know each other or one of the 90s or anything like that?

I'd assume that Lady*Erith and Fina would, erm, dislike Plague because they're knights in shining armour and he's an immoral poison-using assassin. A rivalry of sorts between <Sacred Grace> and <Silent Night> might be interesting to RP.
That said, Plague probably views <Wild Hunt> and <Nightmare> in an Even Evil Has Standards sort of way crossed with TF 2!Sniperisms ("Professionals have standards: be polite; be efficient; have a plan to kill everyone you meet").

Crimson could know Plague as a person to buy poison by, though he'd probably see a knight in shining armor as a dumbass for not being pragmatic, he's very much a playful asshole, I guess you could say, he finds people too cynical to be boring at best and annoying at worse, and of course, he's always willing to kill someone he knows.

Plague doesn't sell poisons. He's a blade-for-hire, not a crafter.

Any thoughts on Emrys, the chronicler-esque character?

Now that I think about it, why'd you make his subclass Dragon Slayer rather than Scholar, Arcanist or something like that? Granted, I'm not 100% sure Adventurers can take those ones, but I don't see why they couldn't.

Dragon Slayer is one of the Sub-classes that you recieve after meeting certain requirements, namely killing at least 70 Legion Raid Boss dragons. One of his spells, Akasha's Wrath gets rid of the factor that makes dragons so ridiculously hard to kill, their defenses, by cutting it in half. So he's killed quite a few in his time and earned the title which he keeps as a memento/record of his deeds.

Fair enough. I was just thinking that if you're making him a chronicler and making that one of his top goals, it might be more fitting for him to be a corresponding subclass. I can definitely see people choosing subclasses based more on utility or as mementos than for in-universe, in-game RPing purposes, though.

Jeanne probably wouldn't look too highly on Plague just for general sliminess and using underhanded tactics even a pirate would consider cheating, but she'd probably respect the name and legacy of <Nightmare> (or at least know not to carelessly mess with them).

As for <Wild Hunt> and <Sacred Grace>, dalt and I have talked it over and we've decided that, since both guilds take roleplaying and staying in-character very seriously that Erin & Jeanne's guilds have a sort of friendly rivalry where they play cops and robbers with each other (or rather pirates vs. the defenders of the land). They've actually managed (or will manage) to work together quite well after their temporary ceasefire following the Catastrophe.

And Proton wouldn't really know anyone else - he got into Elder Tales via his friend, and thus said friend is really the only person he knows. So I guess he's probably going to run into another of the P Cs?

St. Peter's Basilica, huh? I did wonder where you were going to put the Cathedral at, considering just how many there are in Rome. Where's the Guild Hall at, the Pantheon? That'd be pretty fitting. I assume Palazzo Madama (modern Senate) or Curia Julia (ancient Senate) are at least buildings reserved for the Lander government or something, since selection of an Emperor vaguely brings to mind the Roman Senate. Palazzo Montecitorio (modern House of Reps), on the other hand, could be another good option for the Guild Hall. The seat of the ancient tribunes might also work nicely, although I can't actually remember where it is.

What I'm trying to say is, we've got plenty of options as far as important buildings.

So yeah, posted. I know that Race of Ritual have tatoos, and I figured that there was probably a lot of customization options at character creation and/or later for them to pick in terms of what the tatoos looked like. So Proton has a rather...extensive set. Also, stumbling around looking for interaction if anyone wants to bump into him.

Posted. Wasn't expecting it to come out as long as it did (I was going for half the length of Daltar's intro since it's the longest but mine is almost as long in terms of lines.) but I'm okay with how it turned out. Now I'm off to sleep.

Just deciding if I'm going to have Crimson's target be one of the other players...
