Fallout: Tales From The Mojave Wasteland (Signups)

War, war never changes....

In 2281, a courier from the Mojave Express was shot dead near the small town of Goodsprings. The platinum poker chip that he was tasked with carrying was lost, and now the city of New Vegas and the surrounding Mojave Wasteland are in a delicate balance as tensions between the New California Republic and Caesar's Legion continue to build. Both sides prepare for war following the First Battle of Hoover Dam in 2277. The NCR continues to conscript more soldiers from their homelands in California. Meanwhile, in a pragmatic and shocking reform, Caesar issues the Edict of Tuscon that allows women, previously only allowed to be slaves, to become basic Legionaries, provided they were able-bodied and able to pass the training to become a Legionary. Caesar knew he needed every warm body that can fight on his side, so he was willing to bend the rules of his own society he had built.

And elsewhere, the citizens of New Vegas and the Mojave Wasteland continue to live in this powder keg of intrigue....

Okay, this is an RP based on Fallout New Vegas set in a "What If?" scenario where the Courier died at Goodsprings, and now it is up to the player characters of this RP to decide the fate of the Mojave Wasteland.

• Name: Ashley Mustang
• Age: 19
• Gender: Female
• Faction: Great Khans
• Appearance: Ashley is a young Caucasian female with an athletic build, who has raven hair styled in a short and spiky haircut, and also has green eyes. She also has tribal tattoos on her arms.
• Personality: Hot-blooded and passionate, Ashley is a loyal member of the Great Khans living in Red Rock Canyon. She distrusts the NCR like most Khans, but is also secretly wary of the Legion's offer to help the Great Khans.
• Equipment: Baseball Bat, .357 Magnum Revolver, Great Khans Outfit, 18 .357 Magnum Rounds, 2 Bottles of Purified Water, 1 Healing Powder

I'm guessing nonhuman races are forbidden? Any reason items from FO 1-3 are restricted?

Got an idea for a lone survivor of a doomed Midwest BOS expedition attempting to make contact with the original Brotherhood... I guess they could have broken all their Fallout: Tactics stuff on the way while trying to survive, if that's even viable as a character.

That is a viable character, I will accept it.

The reason why Fallout 1 and 2 items are restricted is because of the fact that I never was able to finish Fallout 1 and 2, leading to unfamiliarity. Stupid reason, I know. But still, I might lift that restriction.

I'd say that distance-wise Fallout 3 (East Coast) equipment is the least probable, followed by Fallout 2 (Pacific NW) and Tactics (Midwest), with Fallout 1 (California) and BoS (Texas) being the closest. There are some decent maps here, not to mention equipment lists for every game.

• Name: Guy Blanc
• Age: 27
• Gender: male
• Faction: Brotherhood of Steel (Midwest division)
• Appearance: More or less average height, weathered tan skin, hazel eyes, sun-bleached brown hair, and poorly shaved stubble / short beard.
• Personality: Extremely determined, he'll complete a mission or die trying, he would only be hesistant with an obvious suicide mission. Guy was saved by the Brotherhood from slavers as a child and hates them with a passion. He used to be a dandy, but years with the Brotherhood have firmly placed his priorities in survival.
• Equipment: A piecemeal suit of power armor, originally a Midwestern advanced model, has been repaired so many times with few tools & inferior materials that only its helmet is still recognizable (after a long trek over the Rocky Mountains that resulted in the death of everyone in the expedition team except him, as far as he knows). He also still has the high-tech storage device with the recorded information for the Western Brotherhood and would die before not seeing it make its way into the hands of an elder.
  Other gear includes a backpack, collapsible metal blanket, hand-pump water filter, canteen, several hand-made trail rations, a first-aid kit, compass, rugged prewar Geiger-counter, old combat-knife, one-shot hand-made pipe rifle (10mm), and a broken Reaver designed pulse rifle.

•Name: Frank Caparzo

•Age: 36

•Gender: Male

•Faction: Mojave Express, NCR leanings.

•Appearance: Frank is a towering bull of a man, looking like a typical New Reno gangster with a balding head of black hair, a stubble-darkened jawline, and thick goatee, his face features square and brutish. His olive skin is usualy a bit dirty, though he does his best to keep it relatively clean, much like his prized pre-war suit, navy with a matching white shirt and black tie.

•Personality: At first Frank seems to be little more than another New Reno mobster set out east for new opportunity, if a bit more civil than most. He does little to disuade this opinion of him, seeing it as a good way to atract business. He speaks like the mobsters of the Pre-War days, though he keeps his moral compass a bit more intact than they did. He's usualy willing to give his fellow man a helping hand (For a nominal fee), and is happy to gun down the raider and Legion scum infesting the Mojave.

•Equipment: Pre-War suit, .45 automatic pistol, brass knuckles, rucksack, 2 bottles of purified water, one bottle of beer, one can of pork and beans.

I'm not sure this is going to have enough interest to work as freeform, but I'd be remiss not to sign up for a Fallout game.

• Name: Xarok
• Age: Mid 20s
• Faction: ^Expand Xarok is loosely affiliated with the Followers of the Apocalypse and will help them out when he can, though his interests closely parallel those of the Brotherhood of Steel.
• Appearance: ^Expand  Xarok stands an intimidating 6-and-a-half feet tall, and is well-built from his background on the Vault security force, as well as his experience in the wasteland. He has medium-length auburn hair that falls in waves, and pale skin with angular facial features. His voice is deep, commanding attention and respect. His eyes are an icy blue, and his gaze is piercing, almost painful to hold contact with. From behind, one may catch a glimpse of the top of the prosthetic spine protruding from his clothes to the base of his skull; a dull gray metal column with a faint blue glow issuing between the vertebrae.

  • "Eviscerator": ^Expand  If the enemy gets too close, this buzzing chainblade usually scares them off. Xarok has extended its length to almost triple that of the standard-issue ripper, making it slower and heavier, but allowing the weapon to benefit from his considerable strength.
  • Combat armor, Reinforced: ^Expand  Xarok has repaired and modified this olive drab and gray suit many times over his five years exploring the wasteland. However, he is unsatisfied with it, and dreams of acquiring the super-advanced powered armor once worn by the Enclave's Hellfire soldiers.
    • Integrated Gas Mask: ^Expand  Xarok has worked a sturdy gas mask that fits into his helmet, protecting his face and allowing him to explore mildly irradiated areas safely, provided he has a spare filter.
  • Artificial Spine: ^Expand A cybernetic column runs the length of Xarok's back, making him sturdier and granting him faster reflexes. However, it is not particularly well-hardened, so he can be stunned and harmed by EMPs, and damage from electrical and pulse weaponry affects him more severely.

• Background: ^Expand  Originally born to Vault 103, Xarok was raised among a particularly high number of engineers and doctors; the descendants of some of the brightest minds from before the war. He became interested in mechanics through his intensive schooling, though due to his considerable size and strength he often found himself on guard duty.
  
  Being a security guard for Vault 103 was no picnic, as the Vault opened its doors to the wasteland in the year 2234, to finally gauge the state of the world and begin rebuilding. Unfortunately, the world was an unwelcoming, hostile place: raiders became the first contact the Vault had with the wasteland. Yet the Vault weathered the attacks, and the Overseer maintained an optimistic outlook. Though most of the inhabitants preferred the familiar safety of their home and stayed within, the Vault began to draw more sympathetic wastelanders; those looking to trade supplies, have their equipment repaired, or simply seeking medical treatment. The raiders, however, would only become more envious, and their intermittent attacks required a stalwart security force.
  
  Xarok served with them for two years, seeing combat first hand and reveling in it. Soon after his 20th birthday, an envoy from the Followers of the Apocalypse came to discuss a formal affiliation with the vault. With them traveled several hardened wastelanders, mercenary guard with incredible tales of the outside. Xarok's interest was piqued, and he left his home to explore it for himself.
  
  Adventuring across the wasteland would nearly kill him, as a few years later, a run-in with a deathclaw shattered his spine. Dragging his useless legs across dangerous territory for several days, he was eventually found by a trading caravan. They would end up taking him back to Vault 103 - now a full-fledged Followers outpost, to his surprise. Utilizing advanced technology similar to that of augmentative implants, the Vault doctors managed to replace Xarok's spine. He would be indebted to them forever, but after his years of adventure he simply could not return to the cloistered confinement of the Vault.
  
  Out in the wasteland again, Xarok has found his artificial spine a great advantage. Though he has exhausted the technological knowledge of his home, he desires to find more doctors capable of enhancing his body with machines. A lead has brought him all the way to the outskirts of New Vegas, the home of one Dr. Usanagi.
• Personality: ^Expand  Xarok is not a people-person - he rarely speaks, when he can help it, and he tends to come off dismissive and lacking empathy. But he will work with others when the need arises, and his mind for tactics can turn a band of misfits into a force to be reckoned with.
  
  Coming from his well equipped home, he gravitates toward technology. However, battle stirs him more than anything - he will never turn down an opportunity to engage and defeat an opponent. Though he hasn't met them personally, he is very interested in what he has heard of the Brotherhood of Steel.
