Whoa, hold the phone! I didn't think Rin-ne might get an anime. Then again, all (or most) of Mrs. Takanashi's works got animated, so it was a matter of time before this announcement was made, I would think.
To tell you the truth, I heard of her works and some of the things that happen in them (esp. Ranma and Urusei Yatsura) but I only watched Inuyasha when it was on Adult Swim (read the manga after the original anime finished; never saw The Final Act). Then I read Rin-ne, but I haven't gotten back to it ever since the Tohoku earthquake.

Wait, it didn't have one already?
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."Anime adaptation confirmed for next spring: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2014-11-15/rumiko-takahashi-rin-ne-manga-gets-tv-anime-next-spring/.81078

So it looks like Rin-ne is finally getting an anime adaptation.

But I don't want to just talk about Rin-ne because...well, I've not heard good things.
First off, let me say I am an unashamed Inuyasha fan. The backlash against it is entirely unearned. Whatever flaws it has, it does not deserve the reputation of the worst anime and manga ever created.
But Rin-ne has not interested me at all because it sounds like the main heroine isn't half as awesome (or relevant) as Kagome. This is what I've heard anyway.
Mrs. Takahashi gets a lot of flack for "doing the same thing over and over again." Well I've read IY and I've read Ranma. Akane is not half as interesting or developed as Kagome. Ranma is the Ranma show while you could easily argue Kagome is the main character of Inuyasha.
Now if Rin-ne is dubbed, I might watch it.
I just wish people would respect the work Takahashi has done. How many other mangaka can claim to have written 4 of the best-selling manga ever? To have spawned two of the most popular anime in the entire world?
Yes, popularity does not always equal quality but the criticisms often leveled at her are often as BS as those leveled at Inuyasha.
