Me too. I shoulda been lounging with my Sentai Genji skin but Fire Emblem got me busy.

I just discovered this song about Widowmaker by JT Machinima with vocals by Andrea Storm Kaden.

Right in the feels.

I feel so bad for Widow. I almost wish I could give her a hug... except in her current state, she'd probably put her arms around me too. My neck that is.

But, thankfully it'll only be a matter of time before she becomes good again.

Not if sure if this is correct but, would any of you who have paypal or enough money could help donate some to this streamer of Overwatch here? Her dog needs surgery and needs the money to carry out the operation for her dog. Her dog means anything to her, we must make sure her isn't broken for it.

I wonder how they'd handle dramatic character shifts in game.

Maybe they'll do nothing. Maybe they'll just make a skin. Would they switch Widow's base-skin for a brand new one with voice lines and put her current base skin and voice lines as a skin you can switch to?

Personally, I'd like the later as it'd be a nice continuity nod and making the current 'Widowmaker' (and related skins) a skin with a full voice set attached would work for the transition. Though, I might suggest just making it a 'free' skin that everyone who plays the game gets.

Overwatch the game was never meant to connect to the larger story. All of the matches are essentially 'what-if' scenarios within the world.

That said, given that they do have pre-game skins, it seems perfectly reasonable that they would eventually show some progression and have skins to reflect it. They're probably be the same as the Origins and Uprising skins.

Considering Numbani was changed with the events of the story, it's safe to say the game will evolve with its progression. Someone suggested a while back that they could do "Chapter 2" skins, where characters get different outfits. For example, Widowmaker becomes Amélie, which would be the biggest example. At the same time, the old skins will remain for those who want them. However, it's the new skins that'll be used as the "base".

And by Chapter 2, you mean a sequel or prequel?

No, I mean the main game as the story outside the game develops.

Honestly though, there's just one thing I'm disappointed with the Anniversary. Skins and new arenas are nice... but I'm in a hunger for a new Symmetra interaction with other characters that goes beyond Lucio and Torbjorn. Come on, Blizzard, stop using her autism as an excuse to say that she can't interact with others unless necessary. Show others opening interaction with her first, for instance! I mean sure, Sym got a new, very nice Legendary skin. But I think it's not what she needed right now...

Sometimes I feel that having her autism removed would feel like a fine price to pay if it could get her more interactions... Of course at this point it's impossible. Not to mention autistic fans would probably reach out their pitchforks and storm Blizzard HQ because their representation in-game is made a non-representation.

I don't think it's an autism thing so much as a 'she has very little to talk about with anyone else' thing.

Like, what would she ever say to 76? Or Widowmaker? I could see Sombra prodding at her about Vishkar's dirt laundry, and perhaps discussing different mindsets on how to go about helping people with Mercy or Mei, but...

Symmetra is very much an outside-context character to everyone but Lucio, even moreso than Junkrat and Roadhog. And hey, I'd like to see that change too, I'm just not sure where they'd start. Especially since she's only of the only characters to really inhabit a completely gray space.

There should be something in Reddit that lists up fan-made possible interactions for her to the majority of the cast and it was great. I saw it.

And the problem is, an outside-context character would not really matter about interaction. Have someone open up interaction first. At this rate, it was like she's invisible to everyone except Torb and Lucio.

You wanna know a great start? Mercy and Mei. Like you said. But if I wanna be specific on what I said...

• I think to 76, Symmetra can just express displeasure on vigilantism in general. Like, make her the Harvey Bullock to 76 being Batman, it happens to characters on the side of law when facing vigilantism. 76 on the other hand... I think he can give warning that Symmetra was kind of in a similar place with him in the past: An organization that has a good face having their dirty secrets exposed and she's trying to salvage its reputation... and it's a matter of time until she either wises up or let history repeat.
• Widow? Considering Sym has a quote to express that she just beat a villain when she killed a Widow (or other obvious villains like Reaper, Sombra, Junkrat and Roadhog), I think she can start up with declaring that she'll put an end to her terror spree, only for Widow to chuckle and claim... how is she any different than her? This is Widow implying that at this rate, Vishkar has become no better than Talon. Another way is a subtle way for Widow to entice Symmetra to ditch Vishkar and recruit her to Talon, saying that Vishkar is just a sinking ship, not worth staying over, just jump ship to Talon anyway, they'll find better use of her. Of course, Symmetra refused.

OK there we go. Bottom line is that if we dig in enough, we can be creative enough to think one. That's the strength of the Overwatch cast.

But then again, Jeff said he might give Symmetra some other story content, but... again, not sure if it'll beat interaction. Now it may be just me but perhaps it would be refreshing if her new story is about something not related to Vishkar. Maybe she took some day off after the stress of managing Rio, and then shenanigans involving other characters happen during vacation?

There's another actually funny 'idea' post I found in Reddit, but it involves Lucio and... I'm not sure if people will take any sort of Ron the Death Eater stuff on our sunshine boy nicely, not even as a joke... Shall I? (At least people know it's jokey. If it's Sym getting RTDE'd, it's usually taken dead seriously for a what-if/fic)

Whew, I admit that when it comes to Symmetra, I get really worked up. Hopefully it hasn't been taken too far, for now here.

I know I've mentioned my frustration with the lack of lore before, but is anyone else here hoping that they'll make a big announcement for lore-related material soon? By that, I don't just mean shorts and online comics. Because getting a 7 minute short or a 10 page online comic every few months simply isn't cutting it when it comes to actually telling the story.

I'm not going to lie. After spending forever speculating about Overwatch, I'd like to get more concrete story about the franchise. In it's current state, the game feels like a tie-in to something that doesn't actually exist yet. It's just missing something substantial. I want graphic novels (ones that don't get cancelled), and perhaps if the rumors are true, an animated series. If it were up to me, I'd make a series of graphic novels as a "prequel" to Overwatch, while using the animated series to tell the current story. Maybe make more lore-based events to flesh things out.

Basically, it needs to be more than a skeleton that people can actually talk about without the fear of getting flamed by gamebots for being "nerds" (I'm not making this up, this is what happens when you try to do lore talk on places like Reddit). If they're adamant about not telling the story in the game itself, then it better damn well tell a good story outside of it. It's been a year since Overwatch came out and we've barely scratched the surface of the story, and that is something that frustrates me.

.... I think I'm ready to be called pot calling the kettle black at this moment. But Lazer, do you mind to cut down you stating demands on how Blizzard should work on the lore more? As much as I want to progress the plot like you (except you know what I'm going to focus, I don't think you will be that interested anyway), I'd at least acknowledge my limits about how Blizzard is taking the plot and not demanding much about it. I hate to admit it, but we are not Michael Chu, the guy who's in charge of the plot development. He'll have his own style that may not fit with us, we can't demand him to be as such.

Also if that is how it is about Reddit and lore, I suggest that if you want to find out more about lore, don't ever visit Reddit again. Right now I'm just on Reddit to either find current news, or find something lulzy. Not plot discussions. If Reddit is filled by gamebots like you said, just don't visit there. I mean, I did.

Also yeah, big announcement lore, they announced that lore department is entering Season 2... We'll be getting more lore stuffs. But... I think your demands can be said to be a little bit too much and overly high demanding. Again, they have stated so many times that 'it takes a lot of time'... Game and story developers are not supermen.

Trust me, I am looking forward for lore development, but I guess I just have other means to pass time before there are development on plot? Outside Overwatch?

Lazer, at least you should admit that Blizzard is trying to expand on the lore in the game itself. Doomfist being stolen, the Uprising event, heck, two of the three just recently added maps has a lot of bits what refer to things what are happening, what is currently happening and what might happen in the future as Story Breadcrumbs.

I've made this joke before, but not on here.

Michael Chu must have the easiest job on the team. All he has to do is write a ten page comic or a seven minute short every few months and call it a day.

Yeah like that's easy to do. Comic are not made in a span of two days.

Shorts are also take their sweet time too.

The writing is quicker than drawing/animating.

These shorts especially.

The amount of detail & design that goes into each one makes them a sight to see.

You can't rush this shit lest we risk falling into mediocrity simply to ascertain more quantity products.

Writing also takes a good amount of time. You can't just churn out a script in a week. What is this Transformers?

I honestly don't know why they don't try to put out novels. They're much easier to get out of the door than shorts and comics, they can tell way more information, and their other three series already do.

Hey, take it from the writer who's currently working on two separate books — I've done more writing than him easily and I haven't even gotten published yet.
