No opinions on this?

yeah... Not sure where I come down on these specifically. If someone can find a large number of duplications on two tropes, then I'd say open a TRS for one of them, but otherwise I don't feel a need to interrupt.

What do you think about the idea of having a subtrope section on Bait-and-Switch Comment to better distinguish all the similar looking tropes I mentioned above? See my first draft in the sandbox of Bait And Switch Comment.
Copied here for reference:
Subtropes include:
- Arson, Murder, and Lifesaving: "You committed all these crimes but you saved us from the bad guys so that's good".
- Arson, Murder, and Admiration: for villain vs. villain: "What you did was slimy, contemptible and downright distasteful. I loved it!
- Promotion, Not Punishment: "You ignored my orders and broke the law, but you succeeded. Well done. Here is your promotion."
- Berate and Switch: "This is a terrible idea - I like it already!
- I Have Just One Thing to Say: "You have all these awful qualities, which leaves me with only one thing to say: you're a good person.
- Chew-Out Fake-Out: "You disappointed me son..." (stern look, then when nobody else is around) "... but your courage made me proud. High-five!"
Feel free to improve on the content of that section. Alternatively lets talk possible mergings.

For my taste there are too many tropes under Bait-and-Switch Comment that cover the same ground of having a speech start off in a berating manner but end up with appraisal.
Different notions of the same surprise switch. Do you also see a potential for integration?
