Why does it have to be live action?
Anyhoo new school would win because they have insanity like Bayonetta and Asura in their ranks. Like what old schooler can even match up to those two?
The question is, would characters like Mario still apply to the Old School section? They may still be ongoing series, but they are iconic to that era, especially with Mario who helped revive the market in the '80s.
I'm the guy who knows how to make games but doesn't. 3DS FC: 2878-9776-7579Yes easily. Mario, Sonic, Megaman, Pac man, Samus, Link, Ryu, Terry Bogard, Sol Badguy...all definitely old-school.
Old School definitely wins: they have Mike Haggar on their side.

Suffer not the witch to live. Why would there have to be a fight? Games are games. Does it really matter that some games are older than others?
Lampshade Hanging: It's a lifestyle.
Two years ago, Rocket Jump made a video called "Old School vs New School", which was about old video game elements and creatures fighting against current iconic video game figures.
I thought that video was the sh't. Never seen a live-action portrayal of this sort of conflict before. Since. Disappointing.
Now I wonder, now that time has passed, were such a conflict to occur again, where would you draw the line in the sand - between who would be on the forces of Old School Gaming, and New School Gaming.
Because while Rocket Jump went way back and made most of the Old School forces non-humanoid, computer-generated creatures, I might've put Mega Man, the Smash TV guys, or even a Tekken character in there. For the new school side, there are arguably a few more iconic figures than just Nathan Drake, Master Chief, or The Scout than there were two years ago.
Which video game characters would you put on the old school side, and which on the new school side, knowing that they will be fighting to the death in a live-action mock-up of the battle (not really, but one can dream).
1990's? Mid-90s? Maybe the 2000's is a good cut-off point. Maybe the divide should be the start of the 3D era (whenever that was).
