I tried searching, but I don't think I can be general enough and find the right words. This trope would be used in a black comedy or something of that sort. Maybe a bad guy gets ready to shoot his victim and is out of bullets, and non-nonchalantly says, "Oh, if you'd hold still just one moment please, I'm afraid my gun has run out of bullets."
I'm trying to think of a movie where I've seen something like this, but can't put my finger on it, so I'm hoping finding the appropriate trope page can get me there.
