I have no ideas on a replacement. Reading the examples list isn't much help as well.
Except maybe the Hidamari Sketch example

Let me see if I can get a good shot of them in the masses then line it up with a shot of them getting introduced to the apartments or added to the OP.

Vote to pull? It would make a better page quote for illustrating the trope than current but visually it adds absolutely nothing.

Alright, this is way past the clock date and the consensus has been to pull the current, so it's gone and the page is tagged. Locking up.
The image on Chekhov's Gunman is in pretty bad shape. It's mostly a page quote in GIF form, in that the graphics contribute nothing; it's overly verbose and the image is blurry. I think we can do better than that.
Perhaps we can take one of the webcomic examples, show a subtle panel where the character first appears, then a much later panel showing its significance?
