If we haven't seen number 3 yet, they're probably a massive chekhov's gun.

Could always be someone not in Japan, assuming that these rankings are international.

Aizawa is probably 3rd best unofficially.

Is he? He's good, but he's not *that* good I don't think.

I mean he mostly works in the shadows, but he seems to be one of the more trusted instructors besides All Might.

Aizawa's ability is borderline broken, so i wouldn't be surprised if he is considered one of the top heroes.

That's a good question, is the Hero Ranking international? I admit that I'm not totally caught up, but have we met a single non-Japanese Superhero?

I get the impression that the hero rankings we see are specific to Japan, while at the same time All Might is admired and recognized on an international scale.

There are theories that All Might could be half-american

But the ranking is probably japan only.

Eraserhead's good don't get me wrong, but his quirk is mainly good for restraining villains and not much use at all in a disaster situation, in addition he's also kind of insular which would make him pretty unpopular I think. So that would stop him hitting the top ten in my opinion.

If Eraserhead were the #3 (now #2) Hero that would have been mentioned by now. He's probably good enough to be ranked (considering how many Heroes there seem to be ranking them all wouldn't be practical) but if he were anything that high there would be no point hiding it, and it wouldn't make sense for the students or anyone else to be surprised by it.

In addition I believe three U.A. alumni are mentioned when we're introduced to the school: All Might, Endeavour and Best Jeanist. Since BJ is 4th, that means that the 3rd doesn't come from U.A. since they would have mentioned it.

When the Hero Ranking group did an announcement they specifically said they were the Japan branch. While the same time saying that Hero Headquarters in America had also had a huge reaction to All Might's retirement.

So yeah All Might is seen as one of the best if not the best on an international scale. But it's doubtful thats the case for the others.

He's basically Superman only if Superman lives in Japan.

So most likely before his injury he may have made regular trips out of the country to help people

I'm pretty sure they've made mentions of "the American number whatever hero?" Or something of the sort.

I doubt Eraserhead is number 3, remember they're partially based on popularity and recognition as well as hero work, and he's a full time teacher who also likes to stay away from the public eye.

The Amercian number one hero is in Illegals.

The spin-off has mentioned heroes outside Japan, yes.

The Hero System apparently started in Rhode Island.

He wasn't numbah one though.

Captain Celebrity wasn't number 1 in America, definitely not by the point he left for Japan.

Also, he's the first apparent superhero to have the flat out power of flight, I think? Which makes him the first outright Flying Brick the series has seen. (I think, correct me if I'm wrong).

I think for all that Hori is a westaboo, the US isn't portrayed super favorably in MHA, is it?

That would imply that the U.S. is portrayed at all.

It isn't portrayed unfavourably either.

Illegals isn't written by Hori so its not like he's that responsible for Celebrity.
