Yup, neat Invoked Trope.
Crazy cool and the best Star Wars reference in this manga so far.

You were pretty cool this chapter Mirio....now you just have to escape.
God this is so fucking tense..
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Seriously, my heart was racing the entire time...
Can he do it?
Will he do it?
Tune in next time! Same BNHA time! Same BNHA channel!
One Strip! One Strip! It's the first time in a while you can feel that someone on the good guy's side actually can die.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. So, I take it next chapter we're getting Twice using Attack of the Clones.
Complicating matters for Mirio is that, now that he actually has Eri, phasing is out of the question since he can't take her with him.
One thing I did like is how it highlighted how uncoordinated he used to be right before we see him kick a guy in the face while phasing his foot through Eri's head.
and using that to throw her out of Chronostasis' grip.
That is really scary from hostage point of view though
If she even had the time to process the awesome.
Man, Mirio is going to get banged up in a serious way, I just hope that whatever it is it won't be too damaging.
It probably isn't supposed to be taken that way, but it's a little ominous how it sometimes went "Mirio Togata was a man..."
At the very least though, he's given Eri her second experience of being touched by someone actually gentle and caring.

It makes sense for Mirio to be here. Both he and Deku felt guilty over not doing anything when she was right in front of her, but Mirio was the one who (rightfully) said they could not take action at that point. He knew it was a bad idea that would get them killed and leave her with no one would could help her...but that didn't help.
Whatever happens next, he's gotta be the one to fight this fight, because if not, then he'll never forgive himself for walking away the first time.
Lets just hope he walks away this time too.
One Strip! One Strip!/nods
Good, good, Mirio got rid of the last two Expendables. That means Overhaul's good and screwed once the rest of the party catches up. Chrono's the only card he has last to play now, so Overhaul escaping at all would require everything to go right for him from this point on, and even then, his carelessness would have lost him every single minion he has.
"Canada Day is over, and now begins the endless dark of the Canada Night."I imagine they'll take Eri back but Overhaul will escape. But only Overhaul, which will leave him with no further recourse other than to subordinate himself to the League. At least unless he wants to have an actual chance of carrying out his goals later on.
There has to be greater consequence to this arc besides "Izuku and Mirio were sad about a girl they didn't save? Well, now they've saved her, the end."

I really love the applications of quirks here. This series is really Jo Jo-esque in being able to blend to utilities of them to the point where characters have to get creative in countering their effects.
Nah, I'd call that the least likely outcome. Because without an organization or a plan, he doesn't really have a narrative purpose- certainly he can't end up being Shiragaki's henchman, because his quirk is basically just a stronger version of Shiragaki's. And the guy hates Overhaul's guts and would probably just kill him if he had the opportunity and nothing further to gain from him.
As for consequences, though- very bad things are quite likely to be about happen to Mirio. That counts by itself. Given that, I see three other ways things could play out:
- They beat Overhaul and rescue Eri
- Chrono reveals some crazy good quirk that buys enough time for Overhaul to escape with Eri note
- They beat Overhaul, but Toga and Twice pop in and kidnap Eri

"Canada Day is over, and now begins the endless dark of the Canada Night."I forget, do we know that Twice can only copy one thing at a time (excluding himself) or is that just speculation? I saw elsewhere a suggestion that the Overhaul and Eri Mirio is facing are doubles.
I mean, it really isn't though. Introducing Mirio, only to kill only him or something to say "Bad things can happen to the good guys" makes him more of a prop than anything else, and easily could have been accomplished some other way. It strikes me as kind of hackney actually, I think this manga is generally better than that.
Yeah, Shigaraki hates Overhaul but a huge part of this is Shigaraki developing and people able to use pieces effectively (more effectively than Overhaul even, as you've pointed out more than once). Just killing him just because isn't something I'd see him doing anymore if he considered him useful.
The Quirk think honestly doesn't strike me as an against. A lot of things can happen, but if Overhaul himself gets taken down like that this really does just come off as kind of pointless to me. There are other areas to explore, and the whole Eri plans work a lot better with him still involved.

Last week he said he's limiting to copying two things at a time. And we know he made a fake Rappa, though it's within the realm of possibly that that hasn't happened yet.

"Canada Day is over, and now begins the endless dark of the Canada Night."Twice's two copy slots were taken up by Rappa and Himiko. They are both currently open again, so depending on how long this fight takes...
Twice can make 2 copies and the 2nd copy isnt as durable as the first one
A copy of Eri would be brilliant in the context, since she's the one person everyone involved would actively be trying not to harm
It's sweet how we get a mirror of Tamaki flashing back to how Mirio inspired him, showing that Tamaki helped inspire him in turn. Good friends. Best heroes. And Nejire was there too I guess.
And there's that explanation why Chisaki would put a lie detector in his expendable fodder. He's a right-hand man only expended as a last resort.
But there's nothing stopping Eri from warning them that she's a copy and there's another Eri they need to rescue. Unless she's too headfucked from knowing she's a disposable dupe, I guess, but that's not exactly reliable.
Explaining Your Power to the Enemy is a fun trope when you can force your opponents to do it.
