Hello all!

I came to TV Tropes to search for a game that I was interested in (all I typed in is the game's title...nothing more, nothing less). After the initial search results came back, I read over them to see which link would take me directly to the game's main page.

One of the search results was the Characters/Antagonists page for the game in question. Next to the page's title was a picture of one of the antagonists. Unfortunately, it happens to be a character from early in the game that I believed to be a good guy (they are, apparently, secretly evil). Now, one of the game's later surprises is spoiled for me 8-(.

This issue with how search results work might have been brought up before: if so, then i'm happy to add my voice to the chorus, and, if not, i'm happy to bring this issue to light.

The search engine did not deliberately bring you to the specific spoiler or the character page just showed you the list of possible results nothing more. You still had to select which entry and then choose to willingly read its contents.

I did not click on the link to the Characters/Antagonists page: it was one of the search results related to the game, and the spoiler image was displayed next to the page's name (as other images are displayed by page names).

In all likelihood, this is simply an innocent oversight.

It is some wonkiness related to Google's custom search functions, over which we don't really have any power.
