So where will the RP start? As in, where will the characters be?
The roleplay begins on the Sea Dragon, with the crew just hanging out on the high seas on the way to their next destination - a coastal city in the Earth Kingdom. This is a good opportunity to introduce character. And then someone - probably Prithvi, since he's our lookout - spots from the crow's nest a Fire Nation steamer coming their way. This leads to an intense chase as the Sea Dragon sails towards the Earth Kingdom port before the Fire Nation can board them.

Sounds great! Now... when do we start?
We already have eight out of the twelve maximum number of characters. I'm going to wait until at least Monday night. Whether we start then depends on how many other people show interest in the signup between now and then.

I'm guessing something like a lorcha, then. And I agree, we should probably work out who has what relationship with who. I kind of like the idea of a little miniature RP on something like Google Docs, where we could write down what happened when they first met, but it'd probably be faster and easier to PM each other and discuss likely reactions to things.

With roleplaying, you don't really plan out relationships too much. Better roleplaying comes from improvisation, so I suggest you just get in there with your character and your wits, and see where that takes you.

I got bored a bit
◊ and re-designed Katsu's outfit a bit. Went for a bit more fire-nation in coloring, and attempted (its a dressup game, so Its limited) to go for a mix out of normal clothing and scavenged military gear (boots and bracers for example). Haircut is not exactly how I imagine it though, and I imagine there *is* a hooded cloak that goes with it 
Thoughts? Its so far only playing around, but it feels a bit less generic than what I have written down originally.

Katsu looks beautiful. I'm sure Mizuki would like to get to know her more intimately. ;)

I actually haven't gotten to deciding Katsu's orientation yet.
Unless it comes up naturally for a char while building them I actually have written a small python method to determine it :D
Also, the Dressupgame is *very* limited in terms of body shape. Like, you can't do anything with it. Its not apparent with the top, but the figure has something about d-e cups, which is way too big a bra for Katsu to fill

I've been meaning to ask, how come you've only got the RP slotted for a few months? Er, put possibly better, why did you say that it would only last a few months?
It's an estimate. If this roleplay were an animated series it would be the same length as the first season of A:TLA.
I'm starting tonight. I'll wait and see if anyone else wants to sign up before then.

So how long should I wait before Prithvi spots the Fire Nation ship approaching? A few posts in, or right away?
Prithvi can spot the ship once the characters in the Gang have been introduced, and have interacted for a bit. I should also mention the Sea Dragon has a crow's nest.
Any other characters who join before the Sea Dragon docks I will pretend have been aboard the whole time.

Kosjurake has joined the roleplay. He pointed out in the signup that we're playing pirates... which is true, by almost any dictionary definition I've managed to find.

This is where we go to discuss plot and character development, ask questions, and inform the group when you're going to be absent.
You have to be accepted in the roleplay signup first before you can post here.
Now, let's get to the matter at hand.
I realise that not mentioning "Signup" next to the name of the signup thread does make things awkward for when I kick off the roleplay thread itself. If it is possible for a mod to change thread names, I'd appreciate it. Otherwise we'll learn to live with it.
As for the story itself. I mentioned in the signup thread that the gang is wanted by both the Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom - so those are both acting as antagonists to the group. There are other factions as well - some of them related to the backstories of some crew members. One of these antagonist factions is responsible for the cliffhanger that the fate of the Avatar World hangs on.
This plot element is what I would describe as a Malignant Plot Tumor. The faction responsible for it appears minor at first - and it's hard to tell which of the factions are going to be the main antagonists of this roleplay at first. The actual plot event gets kicked off about half way through, once the groups in question are introduced and the characters developed enough for us to be interested in what happens to them.
Anyway, happy roleplaying! The roleplay will start possibly next Monday night.
