A bit late, but anyhow.
Tropes do not have to be aversions of a common pattern; they can be a common pattern too, or even a more specific one. And this one is definitively a common pattern.

I suspect this will be an unpopular opinion, given how many inbound references it has, but Kung-Shui really strikes me as a People Sit On Chairs, Not A Trope situation.
The description for Kung-Shui talks about rickety furniture that gets smashed up as soon as someone nearby even thinks about starting a fight, but how is that a trope? As far as I know, there is not a corresponding opposite convention where a fight breaks out and property doesn't get smashed up. So why is Kung-Shui here?
