( I was told to bring these kinds of things to the forums and then I saw the variety of forums available and was like...crap! So if I was wrong I apologize, and would appreciate being pointed in the right direction :) )

In a story I'm writing, we see humans cut in two groups. There are the 'mages' who are the subjugated group.'they get their powers from ports in their heads that they put US Bs in. These hold their memories, their powers, and ( added by the master group of humans, as opposed to the mages god) a tracking chip. They believe they were given these powers, and the US Bs which they call their souls, by their Godessess Mother Drive. However their Masters, who hold them in bondage have forbidden her worship. Although many still do, hoping she will one day deliver them from bondage.

The Masters are the leaders and military. They have power of their own, but theirs come from their weapons and shields. Another big difference is that the mages power is usually more geared towards healing, building, and communing with nature( controlling the weather and communicating with animals) while The Masters'power is much more destructive.

( there's more, but I thought I should break it up a bit.

If you're asking what tropes match a particular situation, event, plot, etc., then you want Trope Finder, as it says above. If you want more general advice about a story idea you have, you should use the Writer's Block forum.
