"Jack if'n y'all don't leave righ' now I'mma take back hwut's mine and leave y'all curled up on the floor wonderin' why yer ignant ass don't take some hints." Ayers said, low and serious and all in one breath. Then, as if nothing had happened, he tipped his hat up a little bit and grinned at Lucas. "Now as I wuz sayin', there's this feller named Guts Berlichingen, bit of a mad scientist, and he done helped me make these arms, but only if'n I became a Huntsman with'em, so I'm a bit outta luck if'n I wanted to do something else."

"Is that so?" Lucas responded to Ayers, ignoring Jack's blunder. "That's a rather... odd, set of conditions to place on something like that." He couldn't imagine being in a position like that. Sure, he also didn't have any intention of dropping out of Beacon, but that was more out of personal obligation than a deal. To have such a deal over one's head, almost like blackmail...

Isn't that your current situation with Alexandros and his lens in a nutshell? he thought to himself. He might have told you there was no cost to getting your sight back, but when has he told the truth about anything? For all you know, he's waiting for the moment to collect payment, and it's not going to be something you'd willing to pay normally...

Shitty post is shitty, but I need to keep the ball rolling...

KITCHEN (RP LIFE SUPPORT)

Jack didn't leave, a stupid mix of pride, stubborness and a need to somehow apologize to Ayers kept him rooted ro the spot. He took a sip of juice. "Guys, hypothetically speaking, what would you have done if this place didn't have Hunters? Like there were just those cops?"

Novus 7: MAGC Room

Ai rarely set an alarm, instead trusting her body to wake her up within an hour of classes. This trust was sometimes misplaced, though today with a free first period, it didn't matter. A snoozing Ai stuck her hand out of bed, fumbling for her scroll on the bedside table, and knocking over a box of tissues before it hit the mark. She cracked one eye open to check the time.

Too early. Tuesday, right? Tuesday.

She went back to sleep. Or, tried to. She couldn't quite lull into total unconsciousness with Charisse's snoring next to her. She sat up in bed, yawned, and stretched her arms over her head. She rolled her legs out of bed, pushing aside the half-covering sheets, and reached for the dresser to find something to wear. While rifling through her underwear drawer, she turned her head to the nearby source of loud snoring, spotting something white and rectangular attached to Charisse's face.

Ai smirked. She reached out, gently prying the scroll loose from Charisse's face, then hooking up to the wall socket to charge from its drained battery. Then, she leaned forward, pushing her hair behind her ear and whispered into Charisse's ear as cutely as she could muster.

"Wake up, sleepyhead."

"That's hwut I'mma do after I'm done here, so I'd still do it." Ayers didn't stop looking at Lucas but made a swipe at Jack's robotic hand with Hrunting, trying to grab it by the wrist. "There ain't enough Huntsmen out in the world, so I'm plannin' to be a sheriff back home fer the ferseeble future."

Jack took a step back, just out of reach. Great, this was going to be one of those conversations. "What about you Luke, he asked, leaning against the side of the fridge- a good distance from the table.

"...Honestly, I don't know," Lucas responded. "Probably I'd still end up dealing with Grimm, though. Naudhiz often has issues with them getting into town, and most of the townspeople at least know basic self-defense..."

Sorry for shitty post, but I needed to post, and I didn't know what exactly the question was.

"Same fer where I'm from in Vale. We just sorta sit on the outside the forest, guns ready..." Ayers got a wistful look in his eye and he made a sweeping motion with one hand. "Snappin', crackin', couple explosions as the Grimm just cut through the Hopskotch Forest, gittin' closer'n closer to us, gittin' thinned out as they go... so the little'uns, uh..." Ayers's face flushed and he swallowed. His hand dropped. "The little'un's're the ones y'all gotta watch fer." He laughed weakly and rapped on his shoulders. "As yew can see. Hhh-heh."

"I suppose so," Lucas said, unsure of how else to respond. Considering the topic at hand, Lucas was fairly sure Ayers didn't want to continue talking about it. Heck, he knew he wouldn't want to talk about it if he were in Ayer's shoes "...Perhaps we should talk about something else?"

Jack decided to interject, "Well, it's a weekend...And it's fairly dead here." He said, before looking at both of them. "You guys wanna go out, just hang out in the town?" Jack sat down in a chair, leaning back and looking at Lucas and Ayers. "Three of us?"

Beacon Training Grounds

Al entered the student equipment room near the training grounds, slightly sweating after running and doing excersises outside. He showed few signs of being tired from it. The knight equipped Widower's Fang. As usual twitching as the the dust wires connected from the armor to his neck. Alfred shook his head slightly for a brief moment and spoke to Noa in his professional voice.

"Are you ready?"

To the Garden

After Grigori was done with his light breakfast, he decided to go to the garden to wake the rest of himself up and to see if there were anything worth keeping notes on. What he did not expect is to see so many people in the garden. Grigori kept his composure and tried his best to not interrupt any conversations needlessly.

"...Jack, no offense, but today's Tuesday," Lucas responded, somewhat deadpan in tone as he wondered if his teammate was forgetting due to usual denseness or just lack of sleep. "We still have classes today."

WTF

"Tuesday?'...So, yesterday was Monday..." He mused, before slamming his hand on the table. "Dammit." He snarled at himself, before quickly changing his tone. "Wait. what classes were today?" He looked at Ayers and Lucas. "Are today?"

"We've got Finesse combat training today at ten, and World History at five," Lucas responded. "I don't remember if we have a training mission after lunch today, though..."

"Ah shit." Jack swore, "I suck at finesse-all those fancy ass moves when just dick punching a fucker would work weel enough..." He leaned back in his chair, groaning "And what were we on in World History? I am just fucked up for some reason."

Ayers made another half-hearted attempt at tearing Jack's arm off with a wide swing from Hrunting, but some other kind of spark kindled in him when Lucas tried to change the subject. "Well, Lucas, here's the thing. I can toss pickup trucks like, two, three blocks. I ain't got no reason t'ever be scared a' nothing." Ayers put on a tough scowl for a second and rapped on his shoulders. "These here're badges hwut show I done got ruined by the Grimm and came out stronger'n'em. I might git a little frazzled'r hwut ever, but I ain't shyin' away from it." He fixed his orange eyes back onto where Lucas's were and his expression softened. He had no idea if Lucas could actually see that he was doing this, but he hoped the gesture would be worth it. "So as I wuz sayin', I ever tell y'all about the Hopscotch Forest 'afore?"

Seems like Ayers is a lot more confident on the matter of what happened to him than I am, Lucas thought to himself, noticing Ayer's expression. Then again, knowing my tendency to withdraw, that's not too hard a feat to accomplish.

"If you have, I must have forgotten," Lucas responded to Ayers. "Was that close to your village?"

"Right outside." Ayers said. He started smiling more and more as he went on. "'Bout a mile long by a mile wide, a huge-ass thicket of death traps of all kinds of shapes. See, it's called that 'cuz y'all gotta basically memorize a game of hopscotch in order to git across. One wrong step... PPHHHWWWCK!" Ayers made a hissing noise and drew a metal finger across Lucas's throat. "Arrow'd! Or uh, lit on fire, snared, gillateened, tossed in a pit, any number of terrble ways we fucked up the Grimm 'fore they'd make it through. Course, then after the horde's done we gotta go in there'n rearm the traps, and lemme tell ya, hwut I'd give to have eyes in the back of my head fer that job."

"I suppose that's one way of keeping Grimm away from the town," Lucas responded. "Don't really have anything like that in Naudhiz, though. The stronger fighters would just take turns watching the forest for signs of Grimm..."

"Yeah, a hunnid'r so backwoods farmers ain't got time to be dedicated fighters." Ayers replied with a frown. "We set up when we can and we got our guns to keep the Grimm in line, but ain't none of us knew how to work any a them fancy weapons Huntsmen used. 'fore Mr. Berlinchen showed up we ain't never had no Huntsmen come 'round neither, 'cept to collect taxes or to escort the convoys hwut'd take our harvest back to Vale." He sighed. "Soon as I'm outta here I'mma head home, I think, keep an eye on things there. Maybe set up a company on the side out where the land's cheap'r somethin'."

"It's not like everyone in Naudhiz is a Hunter of some sort," Lucas responded. "Most of the people of the town usually end up learning at least basic gun training, though. With how far away we are from the kingdoms, we can't afford to wait while anyone from the kingdom comes to help."

Especially when the cause of the issue is because of a kid who decided to play the part of the hero.

"As for what I'd do after Beacon... I haven't really thought farther than graduation yet."

"Then take yer time to choose." Ayers said with a heavy nod and a hand settled on Lucas's shoulder. "I ain't got the luxury cuz my people need me, y'know? Y'all do." He smiled a little and laughed. "I mean, I'd sure appreciate some fire support fer any raids I start pushin' back." Ayers tilted his head to the side and winked at Lucas. "Land out there's cheap, y'all could git a nice house, no problem. Not much to run into out on the plains neither."

Beacon Training Grounds

The meaty ka-chunk of Noa's pistoned gauntlets followed Alfred's question. With a rough bark of a laugh, the brawler ran two steel-plated fingers over the brim of her cap as she nodded.

"Yeah, Ahm ready ta work on summa dem formations. Ya got 'em in mind? Better not blank out while Ahm waitin' fer ya ta pass tha ball."

As usual, she was giving the knight some sass, though she didn't seem to be as vitrolic. She must've been in a really good mood for one reason or another.

Well, you only live once.

Jack looked at the two of them, remaining quiet. Before speaking, "Hey, Ayers? Can I have a moment?" He asked quietly, his voice betraying just how nervous he was about asking for forgiveness.
