So in a surprising announcement, A season 2 of the Pokn WCS has been announced, and with it comes a HUGE list of future patches to be put into the arcades

No word yet on any Wii U updates, but if they are serious about this, then a patch is inevitable.

Yeah, we definitely need those balance patches after the last major tournament showed the small pool of viable pokemon for competitive stuff

idk i think we're getting a switch port with the balance patches over the wii u version getting the patches

Braixen is so good I'm surprised it didn't get nerfed harder, but I guess buffing weaker characters works out better.

Wait, the little fox witch is top tier? Then again, it did win a tournament and cause a ruckus, mostly thanks to the winners statement...

Braixen is pretty much perfect. It's not the best at everything, but is good enough and has a versatile enough kit that it's easily the best character in the game.

Not unbeatable or anything, obviously with enough skill and reads anyone can beat anyone (except Machamp against Chandelure), but it has no bad match ups and several favorable ones by virtue of having no real weaknesses.

Been playing this online a lot in prep for what's almost certainly going to be a Switch Port ( The Pokemon Company's CEO even name drops it along with Mystery Dungeon )

and it's always kind of embarrassing how realizing the property of a single move can dramatically improve a character's viability and help win matches.

I must of just misused it in the past, but Weavile's Agility makes it immune to projectiles entirely, even in Duel Phase. I went from always losing to Gardevoirs, Suicines, Shadow Mewtwos, Braixens to suddenly consistently beating them.

It has to be used somewhat sparingly though, since if you press almost any button while the Agility animation is still happening it goes into Fury Swipes, which isn't safe on block half the time.

Coming to the Switch, as expected

Hopefully it's got more improvements than just the arcade characters since the game's pretty rough overall.

eh. companies have made mistakes before, and it looks like they've quickly changed their website too. i'd take it with a grain of salt for now, as much as i hope it's true.

This is true, but I'm seeing even Serebii reporting on it, and he tends not to bother with information that isn't fairly certainly legitimate.

It also just makes sense to port the game over considering its poor timing, but I'll keep my salt ready all the same.

I need to see some footage but here we go. I hope they support this one long term. No excuses this time.

I hope Incineroar and Primarina come as DLC later, because I prefer them over Decidueyes.

But the fact that we're getting Pokken on the Switch at all is good enough for me!

Decidueye announced as a new main ☆ _ ☆

but nah, I probably wont like his playstyle (since he'll probably be a zoner of some sort) but I'm so glad he's in the game regardless. He's legit one of my favorite pokemon.

Game is fun even though I'm annoyed at the lack of DLC on the Wii U version. I'll probably get it.

I expected it, I got what I came for, I knew it! I don't care about that Ultra Stars game, I'm ready.

I never got this game on Wii U, but this is a 100% buy.

Croagunk, I'm definitely jumping on that.

The new cover art is way better than the Wii U one. Pretty weird that Lucario is so far in the background, though.

Some misc things I noticed

  • They were coy about showing how Field Phase works on one screen. We mostly only saw Duel Phase footage in those instances.

  • There seemed to be some kind of 3 on 3 mode. Pokkken Tag Tournament?

  • There's a new beach stage, so there'll be more new content than just Decidueye and the aforementioned 3 on 3.

I think Luke ain't sellin' the game anymore. It's Pikachu, Charizard, and these new (with the exception of Decidueye, to worldwide audiences) doods.

[up] It's either Naruto style or ARMS style.

wild mass guess For ARMS style, the screen combines during duel phase, and splits during field phase. The one who initiates the phase shift is the one whose camera will be followed. wild mass guess

That is a much better cover. It gives all the Pokémon a chance to shine instead of just two.

Yeah, this is now one of my must-buys for the Switch if/when I get one.

I do genuinely hope we get more DLC for this. I'm still waiting on getting Zoroark, Aerodactyl, Flygon, Swampert, and one or both of the other Alola starters.

I really dig that we'll have more than one tournament stage now. Counterpicks can be a thing at last.
