[up] Not sure if it's out either. It only says "early April". By then there's even less reason for new players to use Shadow.

[up][up] Actually in the last USF 4 patch, Seth stopped being good. [lol]

He's finally only annoying at best and Poongko never returned to his previous level of dominance.

I like the idea of combining songs together like that.

My nephew is now planning to do lots of chores so that he can earn Pokken Tournament as soon as possible. He doesn't get an allowance, so chores and/or extensive good behavior are the ways to earn the equivalent of money.

I admire his dedication. He said that if he does lots of chores on Wednesday, he'll get the game on Thursday. I can't wait. He hadn't gotten any other new Wii U games since Christmas.

I has hoping Magikarp Festival would get a Slam remix, but Neos City works too.

At least it wasn't some cheap licensed game that will just be thrown by the way side. Guy selected a good game to grind goodwill on. He has good taste in games.

Looks like I was wrong about most of them being counters. I believe it is just Weavile's that can be used as one, since it's possible, albeit with varying (but consistently very small) windows to interrupt most of the rest of the cast's bursts with a strong attack. I've knocked Garchomp's out of its with something other than a grab at least once.

Though being a counter, you can still grab a Weavile out of its Burst on one of the first couple of frames before it fully comes out.

True, but it makes Weavile in burst mode a bit more dangerous to fight against, since he could very well counter a strong attack with his Burst.

Plus I didn't realize its usefulness as an anti-air move until recently. Pretty redonks.

Yeah it's definitely one of the better bursts, contrary to what I originally thought.

If the enemy is in the air before you use it, and they're in range, it's a done deal.

It's got pretty low damage, but it's more than made up for in its utility. Your opponent will have to be really careful not to use strong attacks or be in the air in Duel Phase.

imo they should really increase the length of Weavile's synergy burst. As is, it seems too short to make good use of all the new options that he gets, especially with the usefulness of his burst attack.

That's why he and Pikachu build Synergy so fast - their gameplan is to stay in the opponent's face and throw an endless barrage of attacks at them, build meter, Burst, and make them terrified to retaliate.

That's very true. I guess I've built up a habit of saving it when I shouldn't be due to offline play (in trying not to kill opponent's too fast in order to end with a burst attack and get more gold).

Btw, what are some good support pokemon for Weavile? I've mostly been using Reshiram/Cresselia and Espeon/Umbreon due to Weavile's really low HP, but I've been thinking it might be better to go with Dragonite/Victini once I get them to rack up more damage.

I've mostly been using Reshiram/Cresselia lately, but I used to play with Cubone/Diglett a lot - the former's not bad against Gardevoir in particular, and the latter's mostly good to cover attempts to get in.

I've heard good things about Mismagius and whatever its counterpart is, since an attack boost and a slow moving shield are both very valuable to a mon who needs to kill things quickly and dance around projectiles.

Mismagius provides a shield? Huh. I'll start tring Mismagius/Ninetails in the Red League to see how they work, then.

Yveltal/Latios looks pretty absurd, though. And Pachirisu/Magikarp looks like it can be very useful against Chandelure, or just working with Weavile in general.

Another one falls victim to Chandelure's Noob Laser?

Latios is kinda "meh" IMO. The attack is easily dodged in Field and the only way it hits in Duel is to push the opponent back without causing a shift. Or just keep them still, as the pillars close in.

Anyone ever just forget their own moves and remember them after a match?

[up] Yes.

Let's see the generic fighting game tools I've forgotten in a heated match then have to kick myself afterwards for it:

  • My character has a projectile
  • My character has a decent anti-air
  • SF 5's V-Reversal and V-Trigger
  • How to do entire combos (particularly in Tekken)

My downfalls and want to slap myself for in this game:

  • I get too hasty and tap my buttons too rapidly, messing up any chance of a combo or to quit attacking a Countering opponent
  • I forget Braixen has an aerial projectile in Duel Phase
  • I keep forgetting the Back X on Braixen, which I think could be useful for a combined dodge and attack?
  • I press B too instinctively after a special, using Sunny Day. And leaving myself open when the opponent is too close to do that!
  • Dash Cancel, damnit!!! Remember it! Time! Love it! Caress it and whisper sweet nothings in its ear!!!
    • Okay, don't be creepy, just remember to use it.
  • If they block the twirling leap thing, air dash the fuck out of there and quit tapping X!
  • Just blocking till doomsday will not save you from your opponents Burst Mode. They'll just grab you.
    • But if you drop your guard to attack, they'll Burst Attack! What do?!

Haha unfortunately, like getting up from a knockdown in Street Fighter 5, you will have to guess if they'll grab you or plain attack. [lol]

Looks like Shadow Mewtwo's burst has the longest start up in the game, I'm guessing to balance the fact that it hits the whole field. So to beat it consistently you basically need to stay in its face and apply pressure all the time. Give it any space and you're in trouble.

I'm gonna look like a dumbass for saying this, especially considering I reached Iron League, but I played against my 4-year-old niece and didn't hold back, but lost 2 out of 5 matches. (best-of-3 matches) I'm... not kidding.

Maybe random button mashing is better in this game than you'd think.

The thing about random button mashing is that it allows for stupid things to work and its impossible to predict. Its how my bro played when we were doing versus matches.

The solution? Counterattacks. No amount of button mashing can beat a counterattack.

(also, computers aren't a good measure of skill. their AI is incredibly simple, considering you can beat them with forward Y plus autocombo and nothing else. the only issues with coms is that their AI also means that they can do frame perfect comboes which are impossible to play against, and the fact that they read your inputs rather than your actions)

You can still be hit out of your counter, depending on when or what you're hit by.
