I think the disco ball taunt might be a reference to the Chandelure from Poke Park 2: Wonders Beyond.
He had a love for dancing, was in charge of the Dance Inferno attraction, and his boss fight took on place on a dance floor, with the first phase having you destroy his equipment, which included speakers and a disco ball.

okay looking at one of the gameplay vids, it looks like one of Chandelure's counter attacks is overheat, and it looks like it took away almost half of Shadow Mewtwo's health

There's a video that might be in this very thread about how going forward with Pokémon Amiibo cards are probably going to become a regularity, with figurine Amiibos reserved for Pikachu, starters, Pikachu, box legendaries, Cosplay Pikachu, Mythics, and Balloon Pikachu.
