Seeing as both games have the same fighters it's gonna be all or nothing for the Ice Climbers. If they're not in the 3DS Version they're out. Which would, perhaps, sadden me.

Oy, an idea just sprung up from my mind! The 3DS may not handle the Climbers, but maybe the "new" 3DS can! "new" 3DS exclusive DLC?

Basically, we don't know what time they recorded the locked icon. It could be before they starting unlocking people, or after they unlocked the 48 member roster we saw earlier.
Anyway, who knows. I hope for more. Ridley, Isaac, Snake, and Wolf would be my preferences. Anybody else would make great DLC. Mainly, I want them to fix Ice Climbers when they have more time instead of holding the game back to concentrate on them. If they can be fixed, spend time on it after the game's release. That way you're not on a timetable.

I'd like to say that the remaining ones are Dixie/K. Rool (I don't care who at this point, I just don't want DK to get screwed over), Ridley, Mewtwo, Wolf, Impa, and Lucas... but I don't know.

From what I understand, the leaked footage and screens were taken from a video sent to the ESRB, not an actual copy of the game. The shot of the Barbara trophy had a different trophy count from the rest of the trophy shots (most of which I'm reluctant to search for at work), meaning that it was probably from a different save. Therefore, the shot of the character select screen and the shot of the All-Star Mode lock could have potentially been from different saves.
I'm not sure I'd say it absolutely means nothing, but I think it's safer to not assume we're not getting more characters than what the leak showed, if only to prevent disappointment.

I wouldn't be too surprised if he breaks the parity clause to get Ice Climbers and Chorus Kids into the Wii U version. As long as he makes it clear they couldn't work on the 3DS, I don't think most people would mind. If IC are completely out, then I am going to be annoyed.
Maybe it's just because I don't really care about the Ice Climbers, but I would much rather not have the 3DS version get shafted. There are enough idiots going on about how it's sooo the inferior version of the game even though we have no way of knowing yet as it is.

Then people would complain that the 3DS version held back the Wii U version. And while I disagree for the most part, losing IC means that probably did happen. Their absence will provide more fuel for hatred against the 3DS version.
Fancy way of saying "both versions have the same roster".
People will bitch no matter what. The fact remains that I at least don't want the version I'm going to play the most to be lesser.

Too bad. Wii U losing IC would be the one thing that would make me bitch about the 3DS version. Ice Climbers in one place is better than Ice Climbers nowhere. Plus it gives a little extra incentive to get the Wii U version, something Nintendo would very much like dearly.
In any event, IC are technically not out yet. It looks bleak for them, but I won't completely count them out until the game is out. Poor Lucas is gone though. I highly doubt both Mother characters would be unlockable.
Sakurai's not going to go back on his word either way so it hardly matters what any of us think.

We have a ton of new characters. It's not a huge deal if one character gets cut. We'll survive.(It's happened before)
I like them too, but I shouldn't be forced to pick one version just for a single character. Nobody should.
Especially not on this case. DLC, yeah, he could change his mind. But this? Hardly.

Knowing Lucas' canon personality I think he'd choose to stop fighting by himself and cheer Ness on from the sidelines.

Eh, makes about as much sense as Wario seemingly being unlockable.
I'm assuming what we've got is it. It was a video, so the locked All Stars icon meant nothing. If we do have someone else, than Dixie seems pretty likely. She's been a real constant in all the text leaks. Ridley is Ridley. Wolf may have a shot of returning.
As for Ice Climbers and Chorus Kids/RH rep, I don't know what to think. Both should be in the game, but things aren't looking good for them. Hopefully Icies will at least return to the Wii U version.
