Might as well post this. Was linked on the Smashboards thread. Sounds plausable, but I don't know. I don't give text leaks much credit.

Don't know. Could be that he was just barely finished, and they decided to show what they had. JP's are getting the game really soon, plus there's the amount of time it needs to get to stores, which I think release dates take into account. IDK.

Yeeeah, I don't buy that one. Why would Mewtwo be in the PAX build but not the final one?

Actually happened with DA:O AFAIK. They showed off a quest and companion but didn't manage to insert it into the full game before bug testing and shipping. Ended up as an extra in each new copy or DLC for old copies.

The whole damn roster is gonna be shown for sure in less that two weeks. I'd say wait and see, if all of that is true (certainly is plausible though).

Sounds plausible and I have no real problems with it other than the lack of Isaac.

I'll admit, the idea of the Duck Hunt Dog being a quasi-stand-in for Banjo Kazooie puts a massive smile on my face. Still won't stop me from cursing out Microsoft.

Beyond that, it's a text leak with little sourcing beyond "totally at preview guys!", so I'll take it with a grain of salt. A little surprised that they had to show the whole roster off though.

Ridley having a flying mechanic might make sense if it's some kind of boss mode, but that wouldn't make much sense outside of the Wii U version. Him being a regular playable character, yes, but this is another story.

Unrelated, though, Ganondorf was leaked by the Japanese 3DS commercial. That does not mean we can put it on the Character Sheet, of course.

The Shulk trailer pretty much legitimized the leaked gameplay we saw, which did still show Falcondorf.

I've probably noted it before, but (assuming he's in the game of course) I almost want Dark Pit to be a Lucina-style clone of Pit, if only because it would be really upsetting if Sakurai managed to make a glorified palette swap unique yet couldn't figure out anything for freaking Ganon.

Well, an official commercial might be enough to add the fact he's on 4 to the page.

The leak videos aren't official, though. Related, because they're not ones uploaded from gameplay from the actual official copy after it's released, or from an official Nintendo/Sakurai source, we should wait to mention his clone status in 4. Mind you, it's IMO, but I think it's the best way to go about it. I don't mind waiting for the actual game release to add "Ganondorf is in Smash 4", though. But at least we have an official video showing him and all.

That "confirmation" is a tiny-ass Freeze-Frame Bonus. Wait for either something from Sakurai or from the game itself. Wiki policy on not assuming and all that.

Those parts were all gameplay. And that little window is only for playable characters anyway. It wasn't an FMV, that only appears in literal gameplay.

All that matters is whether using a commercial from an official channel is fine or not. I'm inclined to say yes, but I'd like a mod word on that instead. Since "being official and gameplay" is definitely not the issue. It's whether it's considered good enough.

Oh don't get me wrong, it does look like Ganondorf. I just don't know if it's enough to count as "official evidence" even if it does come from an official channel.

Honestly, it's even more surprising hearing this from you, after all the fuss with Male Wii Fit Trainer nearly a year ago.

To be honest, could we seriously stop doing that? There's a huge difference and actual real evidence here. And FYI, I always assumed he was an alt, but I didn't treat it as fact until Sakurai said it. It doesn't help it had practically zero context anyway beyond the same animation pose only. But the point was assumptions aren't worth adding to the wiki. Gameplay videos from official channels? Kind of a different story.(or to put it bluntly, stop bringing that damn thing up. It's really starting to piss me off. Let it go already, jeez.)

This is definitely a fact, a character was leaked. If we want to take a picture and zoom in first to be 100% sure, no problem with me. On the other hand, the whole "commercials tend to lie" thing is also reasonable to take into account. That's the main reason why I can agree with waiting. It's definitely official gameplay and official channel, but there might be more to it than we know. Like the commercial is from a somewhat earlier build and Ganondorf looks a bit better now than that(or even has a difference of style). I highly doubt it, though. More or less why I want a simple Mod comment on it. Cause it's a very specific situation to take into account. I also understand wanting to treat this more as a leak than a regular gameplay video, though.

Look, I do sincerely apologize for dragging it back up, and I'll admit it was a low blow to do so. My point is that even coming from footage it is still an assumption from official sources, and thus in very much the same boat as said alt costume.

...Not that it really matters, anyway, seeing as how it was already added to the page by someone else yesterday.

...Without consensus. Dagnabbit. This is why I'm discussing it, not adding it. But I agree and am fine with waiting(barring a Mod saying otherwise, of course).

Apology accepted. I'd bring it to ATT, asking for a Mod to comment on it, fully explaining the situation. That way we can hopefully get a good consensus as well as make sure it's okay.

If that leak is legit, then Dark Pit is indeed using the Dark Pit Staff.

Hey guys, is there anywhere I can find out (in text) what the stages from the leak are? I can't tell from just the pictures :V

I honestly hope Dark Pit isn't his own character. If he's just a bonus like Lucina, then he didn't take a spot or precious development time from a more deserving character. If he has his own moveset, then that not only means that he screwed over a ton of characters that are more deserving of a shot, it's also a clear fellatio to Uprising on Sakurai's part at the expense of other Nintendo series that are far more recognizable and successful than KI. I can understand pulling a bunch of items and enemies, since Uprising is loaded with potential items and enemies to use in Smash. But a separate moveset for a character that should be a clone/alt and at the expense of franchises who are more deserving a new character? Unacceptable.

(Yeah, I know I said I was dropping this thread, but... well, that didn't happen :p It's not like anymore potential spoilers have surfaced, anyway.)

So, Sakurai is damned with most people if he doesn't put in the effort (i.e. Dark Pit is a clone), but now he's also damned if he DOES put in the effort?

If that effort goes to a character who doesn't deserve his own moveset and got prioritized over a DK/Metroid newcomer (especially considering that Kid Icarus already has a newcomer)?

Nothing personal against the creator(s) though, I just strongly disagree with the decision.
