10 knights stand. They do not stand together, but they listen as one. They are not equal, but they have all made an equal choice. One that led them here. The same one that will keep them here, working for Him.

They have slept for many years, and when the cycle is finished, they will sleep for many more. Assuming they don't die, that is.

The blue knight speaks first, as she often does. Say what you want about her strength, but it's difficult to have her dazed for any significant amount of time.

"I wonder what the world's like, this time."

The screen above them lights up, revealing the familiar, ever changing face of their boss. For what is a knight, other than an employee?

"I hope you've had a fine sleep" He states. He doesn't really, though. He probably could not care less. That isn't to say He doesn't care about the game, in which they help run. There is nothing He cares about more than that.

"Stop talking. Give us the locations", The Black Knight states. He is ever so one to be direct.

Cards come flying out of the machine, at a steady pace. It's hard to tell exactly how many contestants have been planned to participate this time. One thing is for sure, though.

He's going to have some fun.

Hi! Welcome to this thing. I'll explain the concept better than my fluff up there did, hopefully.

Every hundred or so years, a certain number of contestants are called to participate in "The Game". These invites are given (through whichever channels are most logical for the recipient) to the most interesting, powerful, and intelligent people in the world. Of course, there's also usually at least a few losers, mediocrities, and oddities among the chosen.

"The Game" is heavily ingrained upon this world's culture. Although nothing concrete is known about it's purpose or whereabouts, there is one thing that everyone is aware if.

Never turn down an invite.

While "100% fatality rate" is a bit of an exaggeration, "0% confirmed survival rate" is less so. What makes this more alarming is that no one has ever come back to tell the tale. It is a rarity, even among rarities, for a contestant to come back. And, once they do, it's unlikely they remember anything other than a few minutes after getting the invite.

The Game will revolve around a number of challenges, in which winners and losers will be decided. What challenges will you face? What do winners win? What can they lose? You'll have to see with that.

Obviously, the players will play as contestants. The character sheet is this:

Name: Age: Gender: Appearance: Unique Abilities: (You can be stupid powerful if you'd like, but try to be creative, and I'd appreciate not making your character stupid powerful. You can also be just a dude. Lots of options, here.) Personality: Bio:

I'll be playing the part of "The Gamemaster." Boy, isn't that meta?

Hello everyone.

Question: What's the time period for this?

Even if a time machine was invented, and man discovered how to live forever, not a single thing would become more convenient.

Modern day, pretty much. Might have some societies that are still pretty tribal, or stuck a few hundred years ago for cultural reasons, but technology is pretty similar to ours.

One notable exception: Police force is almost totally absent. Lots of self-governing villages. No unifying government.

Is this alive?

Edit: Nevermind...

Do I need to be a human being or can I just be my biomechanical self? If it's the latter...

Name: No name, but I think I'll go with Cell

Age: 3-4 years.

Gender: No gender, but referred to as male.

Appearance: Buglike with green and black tints with some orange thrown into the mix.

Unique Abilities: Not really powerful, but that'll come after absorbing some contestants, if that's allowed. I have many techniques taken from my enemies back home.

Personality: Sadistic and ruthless, cold and calculating, I only desire to absorb as many as I can and become... perfect...

Bio: I do not know what you mean by this? My story? Well, I am a biomechanical being made in the future. I reutrned to this timeling to seek out the way to my perfection, which is lost to me in my true time.

If I cannot be this existing being just PM me and I shall create a custom creature.

In the year 202X, all is devastation... Soon, any last shred of hope had by the saintliest optimist shall die and decay.
