Alright, so the most immediate thing I'd like to propose is that in this particular RP, NERV directly runs the school where the pilots and potential pilots are sent (through a front organization), and some of the NERV staff tend to double up in various positions in the school (read, your characters). This is mostly to allow the school aspect of the show to be accessible in some manner to the important adult characters, which on top of having a certain symbolic purpose simply expands our options RP wise. I won't use this all the time but it will be there.

Interesting idea. In that case, I see Gabe as an English or science teacher, possibly pulling duty as a baseball coach if he could fit it in.

None of them would be full time, strictly speaking. More along the lines of supplemental staff, guest lecturers, club chaperones, substitutes and the like. Coach would be a perfect role. Especially to show off that geeky aspect of Gabe's character.

Excellent. I've had this pet idea of him being roped into prepping the pilots for a baseball game in some kind of one-time "team building exercise", but that's almost better. I see him as the kind of guy who would have spreadsheets full of sabermetric stats for his players put away somewhere.

(Don't worry, I won't get super technical. I just think it would be funny if his coaching style was to be Crazy-Prepared for different game situations, mirroring the crazy odds given for some of the Angel battles.)

I can see Eikichi as jock/troublemaker (with his physical fitness)... but not too shabby at study either. Of course he'd try to get a nice flock of (female, thank you!) followers. And ignoring Gabe all the time outside HQ.

To tell the truth, I don't see Gabe going too much out of his way to socialize with the kids outside of his duties either, at least at first. Although, it does seem like he'd have more in common with Eikichi than he'd expect, considering his background.

Hmm, I could see Shona being a part-time PE teacher. The type who'd cheerfully make the students run the Beep Test She might also teach nutrition, maybe.

She's going to try and reach out to the pilots as much as she can, partially out of empathy and partially because she'll probably need to know them well to command them.

I was also thinking that she'd be one of the ones poking her nose into the shady behind-the-scenes stuff at NERV, but I have no idea who for yet.

Let's wait on Game to finish up his app before we talk the shady NERV stuff. What he does will cement what I do for my character (who will fill whatever major role he doesn't) and thus determine the power structure and stuff in NERV.

Yeah, Gabe's not actually a jock. He just has a good mind for baseball and is competent at throwing and catching the ball.

Sorry to double post, but I was just thinking. I still want to do the baseball coach thing with Gabe, but if Shona's going to be the part time PE teacher, maybe I should go with him primarily teaching science or English.

Shona could call him in specifically for the baseball match, because she'd know it was his thing and she herself can't play it.

Do all NERV personnel need to be in school posing as staff?

Well I can already tell that this is gonna be good.

I can see Yuto getting involved in a lot of th wackyings, so long as someone makes him think he'd be needed.

Loke's probably going to be part of the goth crowd...And not fitting in at all.

@ Omi : Again, it's a part time thing. It's not necessary, but then you stand the risk of being excluded from stuff as it occurs in the school.

And that sounds good, what everyone else has already said. Okay, so remember that nobody here is a newcomer or an outsider from the get go. Y'all should probably work out any existing friendships or whatever, otherwise everyone's just at a casual acquaintance level.

Well, I would assume Gabe's been around maybe 2-3 weeks before the start, still considered the "new guy" but long enough to get acclimated to his surroundings at least. As it stands, Shona is going to be his main point of interaction at first, so it might be best to establish that they have some kind of a rapport since that's going to affect how at ease he is around her. That way it would make sense for them to socialize a bit, and if she's making an effort to get to know the kids that will likely put Gabe more at ease around them as well. This potential scientist character should affect the dynamic as well since I see Gabe being their go-between.

In any case, it should be fun to have them interact. He's reserved and analytical and she's more brash and hot-headed. It's even reflected in their appearances.

Probably I'll gun Eikichi for first and/or second children. Or at least the one who's been in NERV the most.

It should either be him or Loke who are 1st/2nd, though I think Loke's age alone makes her most suitable as 1st. Yuto has a Shinji esque vibe to him which means he'd probably fit the role best as the timid newcomer. Maybe as recent as Gabe in addition.

@ combat: Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, they make for a good contrasting pair. She'd have made an effort to get to know him as well, building a rapport with the people she's going to be working with. I was thinking that she might not have been there much longer than him, really, but that's not set in stone.

Yeah, maybe she's been there for about a month, and he got there a week or two after her. She's still been at this military thing a whole lot longer than he has though.

Ken's non-involvement in the school should make things easier in the story. Maybe.

I know we're still waiting on one more potential character sheet. Anything else to discuss in the meantime? I'm getting pretty pumped to start.
