Episode 19 of Yona of the Dawn, in which there is determination.

  • Ao delivered extra cuteness this episode. I would unironically buy an Ao plushie. But then again, I love plushies.
  • I liked the cliff scene overall, but maybe if that cliff were much higher it would be much more impacting.
  • Meanwhile, Jeaha is contemplating the true reason of why he likes Yona so damn much. Is it because he's impressed, or is it because of the dragon's blood? This is a legitimate question that I'm pretty sure is going to be adressed in a second season that will most likely not happen.
  • YES SHE GOT IT [awesome]
  • Dat honey-licking scene ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
  • She's disbanding the pirates? Aww no... sad
  • Next ep... is that trap Yun? YES ME GUSTA MUCHO (man this had more perverse stuff than expected)

Hak check: *slurp* ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Gija check: He was hilarious, so still awesome.
Sinha check: HE TALKED. FINALLY and he did something useful so still awesome.
Jeaha check: Still dandy.
Kakyoin vs. Hak: Who would win in a licking contest?

Episode 20:

  • Ao's rocking that moustache.
  • Being a bishonen is a skill. Time to put it to use, Yun. Also, I liked how everyone didn't treat it as a big deal.
  • Gigan's Yona's other mother.smile
  • Time to liberate Awa. You know, this wouldn't be happening if Geun-Tea had kept a better eye on his kingdom...

Episode 21:

  • When Yona turns her death glare on, souls are chilled. A trademark of royal folk.
  • Yun went through a lot. But he didn't falter! Wonder where Ao went, though?tongue
  • Kumji's a bad businessman. And an idiot for thinking people are unable to change.

[up]I think her glare has less to do with being royalty and more to do with her connection to Hiryuu. I like to call them her angry red dragon eyes.

Also chapter 103 got leaked yesterday, and the manga readers are still recovering from the feels. It's painful. When Zeno finally shows up in the anime, I'm going to be a wreck.

Episode 22:

  • Rejoice! Thanks to everyone's hard work, struggle, and taking out the enemy commander, a new dawn has arrived in Awa. Drink, be merry, etc!
  • ...Yikes. They sure weren't expecting to run into each other there...

It was a really good episode. I just haven't said much on it here because I'm impatiently waiting for the last dragon (aka my favorite character) to show up. There needs to be a second season so he can get more screen time.

Episode 23:

  • I know what's on your mind, Yona:    Kill Su-Won. Kill him dead! You know you want to—    Crap, he noticed.tongue
  • Yona's totally fine, though. Holding a hot pot with her bare hands, spilling her food, undressing in front of everyone... Totally fine!tongue
  • Farewells are never easy.
  • And so, it took some doing, but Jeaha rides with Yona now. Welcome, comrade.
  • Time for the Yellow Dragon to appear...and wow, the anime's almost over now.

I ABSOLUTELY REFUSE TO BELIEVE THE SHOW IS OVER NEXT WEEK. A SECOND SEASON MUST HAPPEN.

But then again, this is a shoujo series, so there'll be no sequel and shit BD sales. I'd be impressed if there were a sequel.

I really do hope there's a second season as well. As previously mentioned the Yellow Dragon is my favorite character. He's getting one episode. He needs way more screen time.

Preferably the show would have enough seasons to get to the reveal of his powers and backstory...I can dream at least.

Episode 24:

  • In a yellow flash, Jeno joins the group. Heh, I guess that's why he never showed up until now.tongue
  • Hak is as strong as a dragon indeed.[lol]
  • Return to home base, sees that Ik-Su's still his airheaded self.tongue
  • Yona will now begin to increase her proficiency in swords. If she gets ultra-good at it, she'll be like Blade Lord Lyndis.
  • Let's go, guys. There are people that needs saving.

Oh yeah, this series is the awesomesauce. I'm definitely interested enough to go read the manga from where the anime stopped. 'Sides, need more Jeno intel.tongue

Zeno. It's Zeno. *glares at the atrocious sub names*

Anyway, yes. Wonderful episode. I'm really happy my favorite character finally appeared, even if it was the last episode. They did his introduction justice. So spontaneous or not. The little lying stalker.

[up]If you want to read the manga I'd suggest starting at 42, 43, and 47. Those are the chapters the last episode covered but due to them fitting 3 chapters in one episode some good/funny scenes were skipped over. Chapters 44-46 are Soo-Won's arc that was moved earlier in the anime so don't worry about those (unless you just want to reread them). Oh, and 41 wasn't adapted because it's basically a fanservice-y funny side-story. Take a look at that chapter too if you want some laughs.

Unfortunately the translation only goes to chapter 74 (of 103 plus some side stuff). If you want to read ahead, there are fan summaries to be found.

So I just heard about this manga/anime.

WOW. This might be just one of the most unique anime I've heard of in a while. Most definitely gonna watch this one.

Loved the Asian style OP, btw.

I saw one episode of the show dubbed.

While the actual performances are pretty good, the voices do not match. At all.

It's disappointing that we only get one episode of the Yellow Dragon. The guy's a riot.

Either way that was a rather good And The Adventure Continues finale, though that's hardly surprising as these two cours are but a prologue to the real meat of the story. I do appreciate that the show took the time to develop its world and characters, instead of rushing through it to showcase the good parts a la many an LN adaptation.

[up]Yup. Zeno's hilarious.

I really hope we get a second season. The next arc is something else (in a good way).

Really, I'd love the entire manga to be adapted eventually. But the chances of that happening might as well be 0.

Watched ep 1 and 2.

HOLY FUCK IT'S SO FUCKING AMAZING!!!!

I just...it's so great.

It's simply so refreshing to see an anime with great, charmismatic male characters (they are so rare these days...) what seems to be a plot, and not generic setting.

So, for those of you who read a bit more into the manga; how is it so far?

Because after being bummed out with mangas like Mahou Sensei Negima! and Naruto and their atrocious ending, I've grown cautious to pick up an anime that has an overarching plot.

I'm up to date on the manga (spoilers for chapter 105 are starting to leak through today!). There's a few bumps here and there, but the characterization and character development are the strong points of the series. It is a slow burn show/manga, and that type of pacing isn't for everyone. But since you enjoyed the first two episode, you'll probably be fine with it.

Watched up to ep 16 now. Goddamn, this show is good.

It's a splendid mix of comedy and drama, and there's been no explicitly unlikable character so far.

Man, this show have a lot of adorable guys. Probably the favorite of mine is Shin-Ah. I thought he was going to turn out to be the most hardcore badass, but heh.
